I have a JD 4005 42HP tractor. It's been a great tractor. Can't speak for the others. But I can tell you to get the loader. You will use it way more than you think you will.

I got my Kubota 4760 (47hp) last year. Love it. Biggest hp power plant in its frame size; so I can get up and down the trails and have enough oooomph when I need it.

The cab already paid for itself this past summer.

I have a 2013 L4600 with loader. Last year you could get one without emission and def. I love it. You may want to try to find a good used one with less than 500 hrs on it.

I’ve had a Kubota MX 5400 for 3 years annd could not be happier. Whatever you get, make sure it has a loader and 4wheel drive.

Don't overlook LS. They are just as good as those mentioned.

I’ve had great service from my Kubota Mx5100. You can’t go wrong with any of the major brands that have been around for a long time. If you buy new I’d suggest that you buy from an established dealer. Avoid the “dealers” that are on the side of the road selling tractors , carports, and used cars. Find a local dealer with its own parts and service department. You’ll be glad you did when you have an issue.

Hoping to keep it around $30,000. There’s a lot of deals right now for machinda and tym tractors with loaders around $25000-30000.

I don’t really need a cab. We don’t garden anymore so all my grandfathers stuff for gardening (plows, middle busters, automatic planters, etc…..) don’t get used anymore it’s mainly to maintain around the house and keep the trails in the woods cleared with some additional work as needed.

We used to have a ford 2000 39 hp that worked great with our bush hog, dis blades, etc…..

My current tractor ford 1900 31 hp really doesn’t have the umph to use the bigger heavier attachments.

Get a Kubota L series. No frills, no corners cut, and bulletproof. My little 47 horse has been a stud.

If you buy a new Kubota and finance it, they may try to make you purchase some kind of insurance.

Also in the 35-40hp range enjoy your emissions control system and DEF and what not.

Consider buying a good condition used model without “emissions”.

Good luck!

I recently upgraded my tractor , a few things that were improtant to me in making my decesion of what color to get
Convience and distance to dealer wether you are needing parts, filters or service this matters, I only go to the farm on the weekend, I don’t want to spend an extra hour or 2 driving to the dealer
Weight of tractor, I am hard on my equipment, for me the heavier it is the better, green gets the nod here, just seems heavier duty all together

Insurance , as stated above if you finance ( they were all offerin 0/60 0/72) they will require you to have insurance, I don’t know why but kubotas was significantly higher than JD (~$140 / month compared to ~$35) this was a huge point

Extended warranty, I am usually against buying these but labor rates at the dealership are $135/hour and as tractors get nicer they are more complicated to work on, I got a 6 year no deductible extended warranty for less than I paid for one repair on my old tractor
DEF/ re gen etc, generally under 100 hp don’t have to deal with, but need to look into and compare
