Beginning of the season, it seemed like a foregone conclusion that he would 1 and done based on how he started off. However, a lot of people here were speculating that maybe he’d stay after the A&M game. I was hoping a 3 pick game would at least cool off the draft hype so he could come back and improve next year (think Joe and Jayden year 1 to year 2 jumps)

Yet every dang draft board I’ve looked at STILL has him as a top 10 draft pick or at least a first rounder. Do you think there’s any chance he stays? Or that even if he has some bad games/moments, his abilities will call too much draft attention? (Obv Nuss is better but kind of a la Anthony Richardson who sucked in college and then got drafted at #4)

Impossible to know right now.

If he has a huge game against Bama its swinging towards leaving I would imagine.

Depends on how the season goes. If they win out and make the playoffs, I don't see him coming back.

He had a lot of momentum going into the A&M game and shite the bed. He can get it back if he plays well against Bama and LSU wins out.

It is an extremely weak QB draft.

If he learns from his mistakes from the A&M game and balls out the rest of year, I could see him leaving. Which begs the question of who will be the starter next year. Would it be Underwood or give Rickie a year to see what he can do and then Underwood all the way. There are a million different ways this situation could turn out.

I'm sure he and his agent will assess his draft stock and make a decision after seeing what round he is projected to go in. I don't think he is ready for the NFL.

Too soon to tell. If he is projected first round after the season is over, I believe he is gone. There is just as much a chance you slide down the draftboard than move up.

Maybe.

But the real question will be where does he fit in the QB prospect hierarchy. Right now it doesn't look like a great QB draft. However, the demand for a QB (which is always high) could be even bigger than usual. Carolina, Tennessee, Las Vegas, NYG seem like they have to take QBs. Cleveland is probably in that mix as well. Plus, you have some teams with "old" QBs (Jets and Rams) who may be open to drafting a QB.

Right now the top of the QB prospect list is Shadeur Sanders and Cam Ward. They aren't bad players. But I don't think they are viewed in the same class as Williams and Daniels.

Nussmeier has and NFL arm. He's shown an ability to make "NFL throws. He has the pedigree (father is an NFL QB coach). Plus, in the uncertain world of drafting QBs, teams may be a little more inclined to give Nuss the benefit of the doubt because he is at LSU given the last two LSU 1st round QBs have worked out very well (imagine writing that sentence in 2015!)

It must be a terrible class if we’re discussing Nuss in the first round as being an option. His arm talent is unquestioned his decision making is the problem. Honestly I hope he goes wish him the best give me somebody else to work with for a few years. I’m not a fan of the let’s just throw it up and see what happens gunslinger mentality.

Hopefully he comes back and Underwood sits and learns the system, pace, and unrealistic expectations of Tiger fans.

Everyone said the same thing about Jayden panic scrambling in year 1. People were calling for the Nuss bus all season and even starting the next one. Then a year of growth, Heisman. Who says Nuss can’t take a similar leap?

He probably should come back, nfl execs are starting to realize that drafting guys high who have less than 2 years of starting experience in college aren't working out in the league

I've said it before. If Nuss leaves, I don't think LSU starting QB next year is currently on the roster. Now, Underwood is not currently on the roster. So it could be him. However, I have a hard time seeing BK giving the team over to a true freshmen in a year were the expectations of him and his program will probably be the highest they've been since he arrived. It will year 4. If he wants a championship it will be time to start moving on that and the fanbase will be starting to get restless. I think he will sign a veteran transfer to start next year if Nuss doesn't return.

I'm sure people will say "But what about Collins?" To that I say: "actions, not words". Last season LSU didn't pursue a transfer QB. The reason is because the staff felt Nuss was good enough to be that guy. That's the same reason they didn't pursue a transfer to start this past offseason. The felt Nuss was capable.

Juxtapose that with other years. Brennan, as a 5th year senior, was on the roster in the 2022 offseason. Didn't matter. Kelly went out an grabbed his starter for 2022 as soon as Daniels became available. This past offseason Collins was on the roster. Yet, BK signed a transfer from Vandy to be the backup. If BK was fully confident in Collins he wouldn't have done that.

QB's that play just one season in college typically don't do as well in the NFL. Look at Justin Fields, Dwayne Haskins, Mac Jones, etc. There is something to be said about repetition and learning to read defenses that takes time to achieve consistency.
