post-DJT. I had my reservations but this is one smart, articulate, appropriately combative VP candidate

I suppose he's young enough to change his public persona again and possibly win in 2036.

He puts MAGA into articulate form.

He explains it very well.

He came across as very likable on Theo’s pod last week

They just shot the shite for 90 minutes

It was like two buddies at a bar

I am going to listen to some of that and the Tim Dillon pod

JD has this weird over-practiced and annunciated delivery that is very practiced/fake (this seems more Silicon Valley not necessarily political. He went through IB/PE boot camp for sure). I'm curious how he comes off in those environments.

Trumpist MAGA is not his roots.

American populism is his roots, pretty sure.

What you quoted is in no way critical of JD Vance (other than his shifting public political face, if you want to melt over that, but we have receipts)

Newsome lost his shot, like RDS. He's likely dead nationally.

They're going to shift to being moderates and pick a popular moderate from a swing state in/close to the Rust Belt. Shapiro or Whitmer are the 2 frontrunners for this strategy. After the likely midterms swinging things for DEMs, there may be other options by 2028.

I tend to agree, but then there’s Paul Manafort who thinks Trump winning weakens the D party and as a result the actual radicals seize control and he made a decent argument. So I guess we’ll see

Your of awareness of the Democrat party is stunning. They may shift moderate but it won’t be in a four year span. The extremists in that party are too powerful and it would take a while to purge their influence.

This could cause a civil war (that the far Left will lose) and cause the Blue wave of 2026 to not be fruitful, but it would end there.

The apparatus is already moving. The LAT/Wapo non-endorsements weren't random. CNN is openly moving to more moderate positions and sniping MSNBC. Hakeem Jefferies is smashing any talk of thwarting a peaceful transition of power to Trump.

The Far Left is going to be blamed for Trump winning, and rightfully so. That's why they picked Kamala. She was not chosen to win.

When a main pillar of the party is sex changes for kids, it’ll be a while until you return to “moderate”
