The underrated part of all of this is his defense has improved. He still has a lot of work to do but it's improved leaps and bounds from last season.

He was awesome last year in games he got minutes too. Summer League is so deceiving.
Glad Willie has decided to play him. He's such a weapon with Zion especially.
His offense and gravity outweigh any defensive limitations.
I'm salivating thinking of lineups with Zion, Trey, Hawk, CJ and Murray/Ingram.

In summer league he was asked to be ball dominant and his game just isn’t there yet. He can create some but he is deadly off the catch and shoot.

I mean it's 110% obvious that Hawkins is a catch and shoot guy.. and in summer league we basically told him "here's the ball, go do the one thing everyone knows you're not good at"

He's got some hops too, he at least appears to try to hit the boards- feel like I've noticed him a few times around the action on a miss. Averaging 6 boards through two games (small sample size obviously).
