Brother of former DeRidder mayor Misty Clanton also facing child sex charges

Just a few months after former DeRidder Mayor Misty Roberts Clanton was arrested on child sex charges, her brother is facing accusations of child rape and sexual battery.

Brandon Lee Roberts, 39, is accused of raping a teenage girl and sexually assaulting a young woman, Beauregard Parish Sheriff Mark Herford said.

Roberts sexually abused the victims on multiple occasions over three years, starting when the younger victim was around 13, Sheriff Herford said. He allegedly raped, attempted to rape, sexually battered and requested pornographic images of the victims.

Roberts was booked into the Beauregard Correctional Facility on Wednesday, Oct. 23, on the following charges:

Sexual battery (rubbing/touching)
Misdemeanor sexual battery (rubbing/touching)
First-degree rape (4 charges)
Indecent behavior with juveniles
Obstruction of justice.
According to correctional facility logs, his bond has not yet been set.

Herford said the investigation is not connected to the ongoing investigation into former Mayor Roberts. She was arrested shortly after resigning from office in late July and has been charged with felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
