We have not had rain in what seems like a month. The grass is bone dry and has already turned to the dormant color. Or the dead color from no water.
Baton Rouge area.

Just curious, why haven't you been running them?

I’m no scientist…. But I think water helps grass grow?

Not if you want your grass to die.

Say what you will, but this thread reminded me to go outside and turn on the sprinkler this morning.

I had my sprinklers turned off for the last month. My grass is super healthy, but it had started to dry up a bit. Turned the irrigation back on Monday and next day it was plush and green again.

I tthink he's just confused and wondering if the grass is dormant already because of the changing season or dry from lack of water.

I think you are right. I ran mine pretty much all day yesterday, it’s been hot. the grass really doesn’t know any better, if it’s sunny and not freezing it tries to grow and needs water to do that.
