RIP Fernando Valenzuela

Same - the Dodgers were my favorite team as a kid. Rip El Toro

He never ever seemed to get tired and when he lost velocity he had other pitches in his repertoire. For those who weren’t there, baseball was much bigger in our sports culture at that time and he was the biggest story in sports . There was non stop love for him for 3/4 years. Legend.


RIP , Señor Valenzuela. You will be missed.

I remember Tommy Lasorda's quote about Valenzuela in Fernando's second year with the Dodgers: "All last year we tried to teach Fernando English, and the only words he learned were 'million' and 'beer.'"

Rest in peace.

I was in the Launching Pad when Valenzuela brought his 13-game winning streak to town. He was a great pitcher, but the Braves had his number that night. The whole stadium chanted "Adios Fernando" as he walked off the mound.
