I haven't been to any scrimmages so pardon my ignorance. Has either Dickinson or Braswell gotten any reps at 3rd? I know opening day is a long way away, but I'm just curious what the plan is for these two. Are they in a true battle for SS with the "loser" moving to 3rd?

lots of looks in that outfield
Something tells me Brown won’t be pitching that much

I think if Dickinson can handle SS defensively then you will see Braswell move to 3rd and I do think both will be in the lineup opening day
OF is crowded and Brown is making a strong case to start
Curiel looks really good and comfortable for a fr, him falling in draft is a bonus because a year before draft he was pretty much a lock to go high and likely sign

Are homeruns down a bit or is this typical for fall ball?

Braswell has had a few opportunities at 3B. Dickinson has mostly played SS but played a little 2B Sunday.

I think it's combination of a couple things:
1. Pitching staff is pretty salty
2. Tinkering with pitchers leading to a lot of balls out of the strike zone...ie more walks and less pitches to tee off on.
3. Tinkering with hitters' approach.
4. Cold weather last week didn't help.
With the roster that JJ has assembled, I expect plenty of balls to leave the yard in the spring.

Wild, in your opinion, who's looked better at short? I guess it's a pretty safe assumption that Jones is at 1st, Milam at 2nd. How do you see the other side of the infield shaping up?

Depends on bats. If Dickinson hits, he’ll play short and Brad will play third. If Dickinson doesn’t hit, Bras likely will play short and Reaves could play third (but he’ll need to hit as well, but he does bat lefty- Jay loves that)

Dickinson will hit. He may even be the leadoff hitter.

It's too early to tell. Dickinson has more speed but I haven't seen enough of him yet. He is still adjusting to SEC, Braswell has the experience factor over him. I'm leaning towards Dickinson playing SS but we are not in bad shape if we turn to Braswell.

Wild what are your thought on Meyers. Seems to be having a lot of control issue which is his #1 flaw
is he missing with his FB or his offspeed stuff or both?

With Mayers, you can't walk people in sec play and survive no matter how good his stuff is
at worst, he can be a midweek guy and dominate the instate teams on the schedule and if you fall into losers bracket in regionals and need extra pitching
I think Shores and Anderson are gonna be weekend starters, third one will be up for grabs
Eyanson, Cowan, Schmidt - will see where they slot in and how ready Schmidt is for step up from high school
If Anderson is a starter then I think Ware and Williams will be the lefties in the bullpen. Jay may decide he needs Anderson in the bullpen later on if that helps the team more so it will be interesting to see how the lefties shake out.

He has walked a lot that last two weekends but he hasn't been all over the place. I'm not sure if the control issues are offspeed or fastball. I haven't paid enough attention.
Jay has brought is name up twice now. I asked Jay in the coaches Committee meeting if any players have caught his eye yet and Mayers was one of a handful of players he mentioned. I also heard Jay mention him on another occasion. Tigah14 has also mentioned that the staff feels like progress is being made on his control.
I think a coach has to feel confident in the fact that he knows what he is going to get when he sends a pitcher to the mound in any meaningful situation. If Mayers can get to that level he can be a factor this year. At this point he is still a question mark.

Braswell gotten any reps at 3rd
I know he has the arm strength to play 3rd but he has alot of run on his throws, i just can't see him being very or even as effective at 3rd. I hope someone else emerges.

Great work. Has anyone posted the cumulative fall ball stats yet?
