And don’t do the thing where we mock draft ourselves 3 skill guys and act like that’ll fix everything. It will take years to reestablish a culture resembling what we had. Some slot guy from Washington state isn’t fixing this

So glad many of you spent 2015-2020 bitching about 1) Brees arm strength 2) Payton play calling or 3) Payton not signing lsu players. Nice takes. Jarvis Landry worked out great and I bet Jamal adams would fix this.

You’ll be downvoted but I vividly remember multiple of these takes on this board regularly during that era

You're just as mad and your rantings sound as legitimate as everyone else's complaints

You're no higher than us and no different that us

It's bad and bitching is merited, so put a sock in it and get in line bitch

I never bitched about any of that. I did like the Landry signing at the time though.

Ironically, they might get a high enough draft pick to take Will Campbell.

He did, but lots of people on here were happy when he signed. I just have the balls to admit it. Y'all are chicken shite.

Almost no trade value with his backloaded contract (his cap hit is $29,077,000 in 2025). My guess is his agent pulls some shenanigans to get a trade for peanuts (probably a very late round pick like 7th or 6th) and I wouldn't blame him one bit. The most likely possibility is he gets released early and the Saints would have a dead cap hit of $10,138,000 but they would get nothing. He gets cut he's landing with a team for a 3 year contract at least.

I don't want pretty players.....give me ugly offensive linemen with unkempt beards....and very bad attitudes on Sunday

Serviceable receivers would be just fine.

Saints would have to basically give him away for nothing

I started in 2014. They were 7-9. Lost their last 5 home games that year, 3 of them by 2 scores or more. Followed that up with 2 more 7-9 seasons in '15 (when he also spent a few days after the season trying to get out of New Orleans) and '16, starting 0-3 both years.

about 1) Brees arm strength

Brees with a declining arm was still better than 90 percent of the NFL QBs around. I never bitched about him.

2) Payton play calling

Yep. Sure did. Their winning from 2017-20 was as much about finally having a competent defense to keep them from needing to be in a shootout every week. His playcalling had gotten stale, by that point, and only the brilliance of Brees kept that from being more of a problem. You realize Brees frequently checked out of things and adjusted protections at the line, right?

or 3) Payton not signing lsu players

Never gave 2 shits about that. He would have just misused most of them anyway..Brees was the driving force around all of this.

It was still good enough to win a lot of regular season games in 2017 through 2019 because of the improvements on defense. It would have been tough to beat Belichick with 2 weeks to prepare & Brees limitations on pushing the ball downfield in 2018. 2019 the offense played in a phone booth. There was no stretching the field that year & it caught up with the offense in the playoffs.
