Those two were on the field a lot, often at the same time. Usually having two freshman DTs on the field against a top 10 SEC team is a recipe for disaster, especially one with an offense like Ole Miss. But these kids are out there competing and standing their ground. Bo Davis coaching these kids up

The young guys on the trenches are battling their arse off. It’s also a good message to d-line recruits if you keep your head down and handle your business in practice you’ll see the field. Jahkeem Stewart gotta be happy seeing this

Big shout out to McKinley too. He was a guy where his motor was questioned coming in. He jumped on the fumble before half and that's a play that a kid makes only if he's locked in 100% being around the ball and aware.

Breaux is a professional out there. Always has good leverage and is where he needs to be.

BK said that at one point they were 7 freshmen on the filed on D. At least I think he said that. Breaux and McKinley are making major contributions.

I thought they looked pretty good considering they are both true freshman

Not sure what happened on their long run on 4th and 1, or those QB power dives that worked a couple of times, but overall the Middle of the D held well enough to win the game.

#19 is another freshman who's getting more snaps off the edge. He caused the Ole Miss OT to get called for a hold, so there has been a good contribution of the young guys across the line.

Got even more bodies coming in next year, that side is going to turn again and become a strength like they have been for the last 20+ years

I could be wrong here but with is length, I feel like Stewart will be a Big end on 1st and 2nd down and slide inside on 3rd down rush packages in college. He seems to long and athletic to use just as a DT.

The DL is the difference for the defense. Being to hold the LOS and get pressure is HUGE. Takes a lot of pressure off the DBs.

LSU has the best defensive staff in the country. If we can keep the staff together, and then continue to recruit at the level we are then LSU will be a consistent playoff team starting in the next few years.

Kelly is a great coach. He inherited a complete mess, then set himself back with the hiring of House. That does fall on his shoulders, but it is absolutely corrected now. It will be more slowly developing than we originally hoped, but there is no reason to panic if you are LSU.

I still think this could potentially be a 3-4 loss season, but the signs of improvement are there.

I agree but this same forum has been begging for them to play all season long.

It works both ways though. They need to be able to cover long enough to get pressure as well. I think DBs were the bigger issue early on. Zy Alexander has been huge coming back from his injury in that department.

McKinley wasn’t even an EE so he wasn’t even here in the spring I think the more playing time he gets the better he will become.

Yea he has a similar body type to a Chris jones of the KC chiefs. He’s def someone who has the athleticism to play DE in early downs and move him inside to rush the. Passed on passing plays

Major Burns and Sage Ryan happened. Also horrible attempted tackle by Gilbert.

Safeties continue to be the weak link.

Breaux reminds me of a young Wingo. Undersized, but like you said, uses leverage and aggression to make up for being smaller.

It’s crazy how much better the freshman DTs are this year than the three veteran DTs from last year who got drafted into the NFL. (Maason Smith, Mekhi Wingo, Jordan Jefferson). Those guys were awful (especially Maason Smith) and they each got drafted anyway based on potential.

I could be wrong but I think Shone Washington was in on the long TD run. Either way, Burns and Gilbert both could’ve made the tackle but didn’t. Gilbert’s missed tackle was a bit worse though.
