Why do fans from other schools think Miles is a Jerk?

He has been at LSU long enough to tell if he has any gaping character flaws and I just don't see them. He is loyal, he loves LSU, he seems to be a hard worker. He trust his players and they love him. I think they think he is jerk just because they are upset about losing

Do you guys have any examples of why other schools see him as being such a jackass?

they think this because of his crazy/gutsy calls. you know, going for a fake punt with less than 3 minutes left in the game with a 33 pt. lead. or, an onside kick in the 1st qtr. stuff like that makes others think that he is a jerk. but, luckily for les, his calls are working for him or us fans would be saying he is a dumbass also.

They worked out so well for you that you lost 5 games this year.

After taking LSU to a #5, #3, and #1 finish his first three years, Miles isn't perfect after all.

On the other hand, his 4-0 bowl seasons at LSU have been perfect!

The Gumps will be able to tell their grandchildren about the year LSU lost 5 games.

Those losses didn't have much if anything to do with Miles' calls, other than him naming co-DC's for 2008. Those losses were lack of execution losses, plain and simple. But I think your loss to the Utes WAS a coaching loss from a pretty damn good coach. Surprises me

Couldn't agree with you more. I thought Saban made the biggest mistake with his offensive line selections when Johnson went down with an injury on the 3rd play of the game. We went from having one of the best O-Lines in the game to one with 3 players playing out of position for the first time all season, one of them a true freshman. He should have left the right tackle where he was instead of switching him to a side he hadn't practiced all year. Head scratching.

all of which came from a bcs conference school. not like utah who comes from a non bcs conference school. damn, come to think of it, that is your second loss in two years to a non-bcs conference school. i would hang myself if that happened to us.

Is there any reason that other teams think he is a jerk.

I mean, he doesn't even run up the score. I wish he did more often

Probably because he doesn't coach for their school.

There's alot of that sentiment on this board for coaches from other schools.

I agree here. I really wish he hadn't called the "be out of position, miss tackles, and give up 50 pts. defense" or the "throw a pick 6 again" plays. Those were easily his worst decisions since he's been at LSU. He'll surely remove those from the playbook.

They're just jealous because he recruits broadcasters to ESPN.

Let's see, he's not liked up north because he told Michigan thanks but no thanks. He's disliked in the lower mid west because he bailed on Okie State in favor of LSU. He's disliked in the south, well, because he wins in the regular season and is perfect in his bowl games. He is the epitome of a big game coach.Just ask Oklahome, who he beat twice, Miami,Notre Dame, Ohio State and now, Georgia Tech.

People don't like him because he isn't a politician like $aban and Cryer. He refuses to throw his team or coaches under the bus.

When you tell the media to get off your cloud you have to go coach they don't like it.

I think this is actually the right answer. He very obviously doesn't give a shite what anyone outside the program thinks and behaves accordingly. People (the media, other coaches) don't like that. He actually reminds me of President Bush in this way (and in how he butchers the language). Bush thinks the press are a bunch of useless assholes, which they are, he treats them that way, and they hate him for it. They like to have their asses kissed. I think Miles holds a similar view and he doesn't play the popularity game.
