What's the deal with all the places locally serving imported shrimp? We live right off the freaking Gulf of Mexico. I refuse to eat any imported shrimp.

We went to the St Bernard Crawfish festival and they were using Chinese imported crawfish for the fried crawfish poboys. They weren't even hiding it, dumping them right out the bag in front of everyone.

Not necessarily.
If you want pre cooked, deheaded, dehselled, deveined, cookie cutter shrimp to set out on a cocktail tray, then imported is cheaper.
If you're getting a bunch of baws together, the cheapest route is to get fresh 16ct right off the boat for $3 or so, and throw em in the pot like God intended

That would require going to the boat
Or trusting the random baw on the corner selling “fresh gulf shrimp” out of his truck

How embarrassing. Gov. Landry needs to ban all imported seafood in Louisiana. It's that fricking simple.
