I struggle with anger. I have a very public image job so I always have to internalize everything publically, but I just take it home with me and struggle with anger non-stop. Not to the point of violence, but to the point of breaking things, punching the wall, snapping off at people, road rage, etc. Just do not know how to let things not bother me - even things I have no control over. I recognize the problem and want to fix it, but don't know where to start.

Not anger but stress. Try a combat sport.

I'm sure weed will be suggested soon too.

Sounds like your job runs your life. Not what a lot of people want to hear on this board, but exercise and go to church. Improve your sense of what's important in life. If you are getting this fired up on a regular basis your going to blow a valve.

Literally everybody with a career does this to some extent. Stop using it as an excuse to throw fits.

Dealing with morons is a part of daily life, unfortunately. Road rage isn’t your fault, it’s the fault of the person at the head of the line at a red light that doesn’t take their foot off the brake for four seconds after the light turns green, etc.

The stress is easily controllable when you have a place you can get away from it (it’s supposed to be at home.) however, a ton of people’s wives make it worse (like my ex wife.)

Find a therapist that isn’t a wuss on one of teletherapy sites and they’ll probably zoom in on root causes within a session or two.

Or, you can start drinking a lot.

Your parents were your friends, weren't they?

Nothing about my parents relationship me at any point of life was friend-like. My dad was a 100% disciplinarian who would beat my arse if I talked back. Mom was mom, softer, but never overrode dad.

Anger is a subset of fear. Fear can be overcome but it takes a three prong approach* to the solution. Let me know if you want more help.

*spiritual, physical and mental
