The defense obviously isn’t where it needs to be yet but every week he makes adjustments at half to shut the opposing team down. He seems to be a good coach

He likes to blitz too much.

He over-relies on the blitz to mask talent issues and the results are -EV

He should have already learned this, but in week 4 he was still trying and making the UCLA offense (which is dog shite) look good.

Defense is improved and should continue to improve. The coaches on that side of the ball know what they're doing, but we simply don't have the personnel. Kelly talked about it in the presser and praised what Baker has been able to do so far.

held them under 300 yards and under 20 points.

Honestly I thought they had that fumble. should have been a 10 point 260ish performance with 3 takeaways.

I disagree. I think blitz and possibly get to the qb and give chunk passing rather than drop 7 and still give up chunk plays.

We blitzed a lot in half1 and little in half2, which was the better half defensively?

When you struggle covering, you need to blitz more

A very old school way of thinking that he bought into in the first half.

How did that work out?

This week was a little different. Our front four played great and was getting pressure on qb. If you can get pressure with the 4 down lineman, then it’s fine to drop 7. But, last week we were way more effective when blitzing. Baker probably wrote it into the game plan because of that and made a halftime adjustment when he realized all he needed was the 4 down lineman.

Yeah, and he continues to talk about it like he got here yesterday and is making do with what he has. You’d never know this guy is in year 3 at one of the top recruiting hot beds in country.

Crazy, because last year everyone was like "We dont get enough pressure, hey, why don't we blitz more?" We get 5 sacks...And now it's "We blitz too much!!" Ahhh you gotta love this board. Smh..

The players are being put into position to make the plays but they aren’t at times. The DL is light years better than last year. Our LB’s aren’t good. Our safeties suck. Baker can’t make chicken salad with chicken shite. Some younger cats are showing some promise.

Not me

Blitzing is losing typically. It's a sign of desperation.

Don't get me wrong, in old school football with dinosaur offices I loved blitzing. 2003s D was incredibly fun. But modern offenses just eat up and destroy blitzes, especially if the quarterback is competent.
