The first one showed up about 2 weeks ago, and others have gradually come back as well...currently, there are at least 6...they are so much fun to watch, and very territorial, so there are frequent fights over the feeders...I hope you guys enjoy the pictures!

They were all over my feeder a couple weeks ago. Always fun to watch.

They are great entertainment to watch. We always have the one male who lays claim in Spring. He defends his food source all Summer. Then, more show up as the migration south starts, and he just can't keep up.

the first male that came back tried to keep any of the others away from ALL the feeders until he figured out that he couldn't patrol everywhere at once...i started calling him barney fife

I took my feeders down for Francine and thought they were going to attack me. They were back on the feeders within 10 seconds of me hanging them back up.

Nice reminder I need to keep the garage door closed. They like to fly in and can’t get out. Then I have to swat them down with a broom as gently as I can and nudge them out the door

yes! as small as they are, they make a lot of noise when they slam into one another...and every now and then, one will get knocked all the way to the ground...they're vicious!

Had them in BR since the beginning of august. Francine brought several new ones to the house.

They have been 20 deep at our place. I think there are either 8 or 10 spots on our two feeders, and they run a train on those things.

Have a good number now but they were pretty sparse earlier this year compared to previous years.

I have a feeder just outside a livingroom window. Last year I rigged up a little mount for my cell phone and used it to get some slow motion video of them. It was amazing to watch them, how they make little adjustments to avoid each other.

no, i just sit near the feeders with my camera...they usually land in the nearby shrubs for a few minutes after i set up, but then they come back and don't seem to mind me being there...

Few weeks ago my mom told me she was letting her dog out in the middle of the night. She has a screened patio and noticed something fluttering off to the side but outside the screen. When she walked over she realized it was a hummingbird with its beak stuck in the screen. She gave it a light tap and it just fell outside in some bushes. No idea if it made it. She said it could have been there as long as 5 hours or so but must have been exhausted.

awww, i hope it made it, too...a friend found one on the ground a few years ago and waited a couple of hours to see if it would fly off on its own...i put them in touch with a rehabber who told them it was a baby that had fallen out of a nest, and that they're more robust than you would imagine given their size and that it should be just fine...

Great pictures! I only have one feeder out, outside the kitchen window. I put a zip tie above it, and one hummingbird likes to sit on it and fend off all the others.
