Our talent evaluation when it comes to transfers has been pretty bad.

Inconsistent is a better way to phrase this. We've had some damn good transfers too just under Kelly's tenure.

I thought he had good coverage. He played a good bit against Scar, gave up that one long pass but I thought the coverage was solid

Our ability to get the guys we want in the transfer portal is pretty bad and we are having to go with guys who were not initial targets because other schools seem to transfer portal better than us - that is mainly because Brian Kelly is not terribly keen on paying large sums as hired guns (he has stated this before himself).

It’s not talent evaluation it’s the fact that we bargain bin shop in the portal. Any good proven player is going to want to get paid in this landscape of college football and Bk turns his nose up at that and LSU lets people outbid them easily in NIL when it comes to portal players. It’s still malpractice to me that we had the obvious holes we had on defense and we just punted on addressing them

He and Zy are both coming off significant injury. The staff is doing the right thing by bringing them back slowly. I'm sure they're each on a play count of some type.

This 100%. Obviously we had Jayden but Mekhi Wingo is arguably the best interior DL we have had since Michael Brockers. JBC and Mekhi Garner are on NFL rosters and Joe Foucha and Greg Brooks were awesome for us too.

Ahhh, so this is about defensive tackle transfers.

Might wanna compare stats between the guys we actually got and the guys we passed on, buddy.

He’s not very good. Which is why USCe went right after him as soon as he got in. And he got burnt badly. No idea why we had him playing press coverage right before half time.

Missed 2023 due to injury.

My guess is he's getting back up to speed.

I woild say that’s not exactly fair

JBC
Garner
Wingo
Brooks
Jordan Hefferson
Swinson
Zy Alexander

It’s not that we haven’t had hits

it’s that CB is a position we’re so thin at we couldn’t afford to miss
