The main reason we shouldn't want Haitians in this country

Is because we simply shouldn't want them here, and we as a sovereign country shouldn't have to justify that. For the same reason China or Japan don't have to justify not bringing in foreigners.
They don't belong here, and no one woke up and thought to themselves, "you know what my small town needs, a shite load of Haitians, yea that's what this town needs!"
The reason Haiti sucks as a country and is basically a failed state is simple. It's because it's filled with Haitians. Simple math says, you bring the same group of people from there to here, soon enough, here starts to look like there.
I'm sure some egghead liberal academic will have some long winded explanation on how we shouldn't believe what we see, and Haitians are some how a net benefit to America, and the more we bring in the better. But in reality it's not the case. And everyone knows it, most people are afraid to say it. You get worms like Mile DeWine who don't disagree with the premise of dropping 20,000 Haitians in a small town, he simply wants it to be done in an orderly fashion and with proper funding.

I’ve got no problem with some Haitian guy from one of the few wealthy families who moves here, but taking in 1,000’s of lower income Haitians is asking for trouble. Expecting them not to do some of the third world stuff they did back home is a waste of time. They will inevitably keep many of the habits and traditions they had back home.

Selective immigration that involves assimilation is fine. Pick the best of the bunch, bring them in small numbers and spread out so they can integrate and assimilate with the culture and customs of the country.
Bringing them in huge blocs to specific locations, and turning them into their own special interest group is a disaster but helps Dems retain power so they don't give a shite.

The process of importing folks or making pathways for illegal immigrants is candidly depriving us of the quality of immigrants too (both illegal and legal, honestly).
I'm not excusing illegal immigration, but it'll be a surprise to nobody that people willing to float 90 miles on a front door with Tide box buoys to get to this country will probably work tirelessly to succeed in it. Going and grabbing 50k people from a place that has been in disarray forever and dropping them into Ohio and giving them food and rent vouchers is obviously not going to end up the same.

Us being a “Nation of Immigrants” has been painted so broadly that people don’t understand/wasn’t taught that while that’s true it’s not any and all immigrants. Especially in the last 100 years.

This is a hard one to process for many. People have been taught that this is "racist" thinking and being a racist is the worst thing possible.
The truth is for most these countries, their best option would be going back to being a colony and letting white people run the country for them. That is a hard truth to swallow, but everyone knows it's true. See South Africa, Zimbabwe, Jamaica, etc

You can add cities like Jackson, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Shreveport, Memphis, Detroit, etc that list could go on and on.
