It's clear he took the loss hard. You can hear it in his voice and see it in his demeanor. Said he's going to re-live that missed throw to Anderson for the next 6 days until the next game.

Hate the loss, but I think Nuss and the team will be fine. They are still playing for a playoff spot and the sense of urgency is now accelerated.

t sucks that he needed to be perfect in that game for them to win but that's just about what he would have been if he hit those 4 bad throws. We would have won regardless of all the other factors that affected that game. That's why I'm not that worried. Even with the bad ref calls and non calls, the stupid penalties by our players, the one handed catches by USC and the missed opportunities on the fumbles and batted balls, and our QB starting his first regular season game with a new OC calling his first ever game we still had an opportunity to put the game away with 2 minutes left and USC having only 20 points. If you can't see the positive in that I don't know what to tell you.

Obviously 1 play doesn't lose a game but that throw damn sure could have won it.

Agree. He didn't lose the game but could have won it. Who knows, might be like the hit Burrow took that started his run.

Sometimes it feels like this board should be renamed NancyDroppings.

It sucks because one throw didn’t lose the game for us alone.

Stupid unforced penalties.
Suspect play calls.
Suspect OL run blocking.
USC dumb luck on what felt like 700 would be INTs for LSU.

Love that Nuss is committed to improving, but one bad throw didn’t lose LSU this game.

This is why I remain so optimistic. Yes, I am frustrated by the lack of discipline and general sloppiness we have seen in game 1's under CBK. But to still be in a position to end the game after nearly every break going the other way. clearly we were doing something right.

Clean up the selfish penalties, be little more aggressive on offense, and we'll be okay.

Nuss loves LSU as much or more than anyone that has ever played here. He’s a great kid and is so easy to root for. If anyone deserves success, it’s him.

Obviously one or two plays do not Win or Lose a Game but …… Lacy’s Dumbass Penalty was a Killer.

Inexcusable considering this was supposed to be the best part of the offense.

I agree and I highlighted it because it was such a frequently discussed play and the fact that Nuss brought it up and talked about it the way he did illustrates a player that is willing to reflect, take responsibility and then get better.

I've probably said it 4-5 times on here, but I think they just need to let Nuss play and be aggressive. That game looked like he had been so programmed to limit mistakes that he probably was overthinking everything and not taking chances.

By contrast, Moss was playing loose and slinging it which is what you want from Nuss.

8-4 man, BK is our coach. It’s a cyclical thing, lose and reality hits, then the board starts to brighten as the week goes on and all the “negative people” get bashed, then it happens again in four weeks.

And yet he won 10 games the last 2 seasons. First season with a patchwork roster and last season with a nightmare defense.

This season the offense won't be as dynamic, but the D will be better. What hasn't been discussed is the job Peoples and Bo did with the DL. They actually performed well. Losing game one sucks, but there is a lot to be encouraged about with this team.

USC dumb luck

It litterally seemed like every ball bounced their way. That first fumble was a prime example. 3 or 4 tigers in the backfield, ball is knocked loose from the QB and bounces into the breadbasket of the only other SC player in the backfield. Unbelievably bad luck on that one for LSU

USC was selling out to stop the deep ball. They were giving us the underneath stuff so he took it, as he should.

He might have missed one or two opportunities throughout the game where guys got open and he didn’t see it, but I guarantee you that Moss did as well. Every QB does.

I don’t think the difference between Moss and Nuss in that game had anything to do with Nuss being handcufffed or afraid to be aggressive. It was that USC’s defensive play calling took away the deep ball, particularly in the second half after getting burned by Lacy.

Anyone melting about that game is an idiot.

Unfortunately it will be weeks before we get another competitive game. to see how we stack up.

I have seen some wild takes on Nuss this week from everywhere. Our fans, opposing fans, analysts… even some questioning his arm strength.

I was thinking about how USC's WRs made several contested catches but ours didn't. I eventually realized it was because outside of the TD to Lacy, Nuss didn't throw it unless our WR was wide open. They gotta let Nuss put it up there and allow our WRs to make plays.

For the most part you are correct but there were a handful of plays where they loaded the box. We needed to take our shots when they gave us the right look and too often we just ran the play called.
