Wonderful. Jackson shuts down auditorium cuz of mold.

Dumbasses never bothered to fully repair the HVAC system. City has been renting chillers for events. Well, HVAC failed, humidity went up, and mold set in. Now the auditorium is shut down for an indeterminate amount of time. Symphony, ballet, and concerts are moving out. Kevin Hart supposed to perform near end of month and it will probably have to be moved as well. The Broadway are probably gone for the fall and winter as there is no other stage in the Jackson area that can handle such a production.
Let's see, the city lost several libraries after it let them fall apart, it let the water system fall apart because it didn't order parts nor hire employees, and it had to shut down the zoo for almost.a year. Here are some pictures from the assessment of the auditorium.
The assessment's executive summary stated:

The assessment's executive summary stated:
quote:
The total indoor spore levels were above the outdoor levels in five cases and Penicillium/Aspergillus exceeded outdoor levels in all cases. Elevated concentrations of Penicillium/Aspergillus were reported in Main auditorium sample sites #2 & #5, basement floor storage room, and ground floor sample location #11. Sample #11 was collected in the west room across from refreshment station and couch seating. This floor, especially this room, exhibited strong fungal odors. Many of the return-air grates contained a visible presence of dust, debris and suspect mold growth. There was significant multi species biofouling of wood surfaces on this floor. The wood surfaces of doors, furniture, and synthetic baseboards being the most heavily affected. The main auditorium hall presented significant fungal biofouling in carpeting, surface contamination of wood armrests and handrails, and exceedances in spore trap samples #2 and #5. A five- point sampling strategy was employed in this environment because of cubic volume and stratification concerns. The sampling methodology should have captured the most unbiased fungal data in terms of randomness and proximities to visual fungal biofilms. Surface contamination of carpet and hard surfaces on second floor balcony was visibly less than first floor locations. This is supported by the laboratory analyses. The soft surfaces of seats and curtain upholstery were closely examined, and no visible growth was determined. Because of the spore load in these locations, it is likely that spores are present on these soft surfaces but environment and labile carbon restrictions are preventing primary hyphae tube growth and colony formation. "
Proposed as hypothesis is the atmospheric rain events coupled with indoor condensation from lack of climate control and temperature/nutrient sources being optimal on surfaces facilitated the primary proliferation event.

Can you post some more pics? I'm still not convinced

Auditorium in Madison would never have this problem.

Problem is it can't handle the broadway shows. The state is not strong enough nor is it big enough.

I had no idea Madison even had a place. I was just up there last weekend...

The high school auditorium at Madison Central is pretty nice, actually.

Coming soon to Baton Rouge…

A lot of mold / mildew complaints trigger my BS meter, particularly in the Deep South where people ought to know that there's no defeating that shite entirely, but that is just disgusting. That place looks totaled. That did not happen over a few days. That's long-term neglect.

Are you a, "journalist," by any chance?
Regardless, I assume you mean the Thalia Mara Hall in Jackson, Mississippi --- another democrat utopia stronghold of excellence for the muh Trumpers to excel and aspire towards being. Only a democrat politician has their shite together, you know?
I saw the Tedeschi Trucks band there a few years back. Front Row seats. Used to be an awesome little venue in a state that gave this country that style of music, and much more.
Alas, I hate what Jacksonians have done to my state's capital city.
But at the end of the day, it's my fault - the white devil. I take full responsibility.

White mold. Obviously racist.

Dude,
Kevin hart doesn’t want to go to Jackson .
He’s the one that hired a guy to use a trowel to spread fake mold on the walls and ceiling.
That costs less than losing his life in Jackson.

Here's what's so depressing to me about this: people were in that building day-to-day and ignored this, or at least left it for other people to deal with. I see what look like office doors in those pictures: office doors presumably belonging to full-time managers at this facility. When it got humid, I guess they just hauled arse. Someone else will fix it. Take a spray bottle of bleach to the worst of it out of pride? Naaah, not even close. We need tHe eXpErTs. Somebody else needs to step up. Maybe it's a black thing, but IDK. Having lived through Katrina, I think it's maybe an all-of-them-down-there thing.

Those idiots that compare Jackson with Baton Rouge need their fricking heads examined.

TIL Jackson has a symphony.

Doesn’t take an expert to see that place was over-run with mold and fungus.
