After letting it marinate

These were two equally talented teams. Hard to gauge where each is after this game. Maybe USC is better than expected. Maybe LSU is worse than expected. Only time will tell.
The non-conference loss is not a death blow to the season. Hopefully USC makes playoffs and LSU has a great campaign and does the same.
You never know what could happen

That's really where we are at this point. It's too early to know much about either team other than they looked about evenly matched and they made the clutch plays down the stretch when we faltered on offense.

We should get to Ole Miss with 1 loss. Season is setting up like 2 years ago TBH where Ole Miss = Tennessee.. lets hope that one goes better than in 2022

Halfway through the second quarter I knew it would come down to last possession.
USC Qb made the plays.
Oline was great in pass protection but left much to be desired in the run game. That will get better.
After UCLA game, we should have a better gauge of 10-2 or 8-4

OP is a nominee for the most sane post of the day.

LSU coaching shot itself in the foot when they played not to lose in the second half.
Some of these leaders that were chosen need a come to Jesus talk with mistakes and taking plays off.
USC made more big plays and got some help from the refs with both calls and swallowing their whistles.

Most of the time USC sent more defenders than the OL could block on that inside zone running which they read with ease.

I said it earlier. Assuming they improve, 10-2 isn’t out of the question. I wouldn’t bet on it but I wouldn’t think someone was insane for saying it.
I think it’s more likely they go 9-3, maybe win a meh bowl game and continue to beat the “10 wins every year” drum which is frustrating.
BK runs a fine program, but I’m starting to doubt whether he can take it from good to great. Hope he can cause he’s going to be the guy for at least a few more years.

Players lost this game period. There were 2 fumbles and 2 deflected passes that LSU players should have recovered and if they did LSU would have won the game and BK had nothing to do with it but when players don't execute idiots blame the coaches.

And the USC WR made two outstanding catches that certainly helped their team. They might lose without them, probably do

I bet everyone here could answer that if it was a test question on a football test
- “what would be an offense’s response to a defense that loads up the box to defend tbe run?”
So ….. why did we see that answer in the 1st half, but then DIDN’T see it in the second half?

Also a missed holding call on the first catch.

Would be interesting to hear from Nuss on this. If that’s something he saw and would he be allowed to audible out of it.

To use the music of E40s song Choices
“ Maybe USC is better than expected” - NOPE
“Maybe LSU is worse than expected” - YUP

I'll admit, weeks should have intercepted that deflected pass. Completely ignorant trying to run and not securing that ball, any way possible.

Finally a thread that gets it.
Yes it sucks losing 5 openers in a row, that's seriously the worst part of it all. Other than that, this team has shown under Kelly that they can do great things despite it.
Who knows, maybe USC rolls the rest of the year like Fla St last year. Nobody knows yet.

I think by the end of this season, we'll look at this loss the same way we viewed the FSU loss towards the end of last season: felt like one we should've won at the time, but they will probably end up in playoff contention or close to it.
