Saban likes Nuss

A quote from the Athletic:
Saban was so comfortable that he made a bold prediction that might even qualify as a hot take: “I think (LSU quarterback) Garrett Nussmeier is going to be one of the all-time sleepers in college football this year at quarterback.”

Saban knows that family well. Nuss is in year 4, has shown improvement each year, and their is no reason this should not be a great season for him. Especially with the weapons around him. You know he is chomping at the bit to get out there! He has paid his dues.

Everytime I watch Nussmeier play I see Baker Mayfield at OU. Both are about the same size. They have a somewhat similar throwing motion with much more arm strength that what their size suggest they should have. Both were/are constantly "bouncing" in the pocket, and have extreme confidence to make any throw.
Simply as a passer (and nothing else) Nussmeier is better than Daniels. He is willing to attack all areas of the field and has better touch on intermediate throws than Daniels. It was the addition of everything else that made Daniels great.
The issue for Nussmeier isn't ability. It's can he maintain poise and not feel the need to try to make every play a big play? In 2022 BK was essentially telling Daniels he was fine with a few interceptions if it meant that Daniels would stop hesitating to throw the ball. This year may be the opposite where you see him red-faced yelling at Nussmeier after a pick on a throw he had no business trying to make.

On the flip side, Josh Pate dropped LSU in his JP poll because of "a little too much talk of turnovers with Nuss in Fall camp"

My only concern with Nuss is him trying to do too much and throwing off platform. He;s good at it, but it can also put you in dicey situations with good DBs on the other side.

Is everyone just forgetting that Saban went after Nuss hard to get in the portal? Happened right after the 2022 season.

Might be a bit of homerism from me, but last year the offense shite on the defense up and down the field and everyone knew that they were light years ahead of the defense.
The offense this year is going against a defense with a pulse. I expect a top 40 defense.

Ive always liked Pate but I think it’s his personality and how his videos are presented.
I actually don’t think his knowledge or takes are very good though. Don’t put a lot of stock in his opinions.

Are you one of those people who think everything you say needs to be punctuated with multiple exclamation points? What criteria do you use to determine how many are used in a given sentence? How many are enough?
Were you always like this, or just since the advent of Facebook?

I didn’t. I missed it. So I’m glad you did. But no reason to be a prick because you have time to sit around.

I’m just saying you are posting news that is 4 days old. There were several threads about it Saturday morning when he said it.

I think our running game will be able to take pressure off Nuss to where he doesn't think he needs to force the ball. I am also encouraged about hearing our DB's have more often than not been in position to make plays in camp. Was not the case last year. And if Guillory has taken the nextstep as BK has said then could be an exceptional year.

I agree for the vast majority of the game, but I’m worried about a few critical situations and him trying to force it. Moscona talked about it in one of the scrimmages. There were two separate drives in which the offense looked fantastic driving down the field and then there was just one play in which Nuss was careless or tried to force it and ended up throwing an interception.
