I remember this day like it was yesterday!! I remember being at a pregame on Friday before the storm who knew that would be the last time we saw the superdome look like that!! I am curious where was everyone for Hurricane Katrina and what do you remember?

Just was at home in Baton Rouge eating snacks without electricity for 1 day. Didn't realize the levees broke until much later

Sat it out in Coventry Terrace Apartments, then spent a week or so volunteering at the PMac. Damn Tiger Village (I think that was the name) had power in a day. We were nextdoor, but on a different grid. No power for two weeks.

It was tough.

Went out drinking Saturday night. Woke up early Sunday morning because my late pops called me and said "son, think we need to get the frick out of here".

First time he ever evacuated, figured I should listen to the old man. Grateful I did, was living in Lakeview at the time.

Road it out at my parents house in Waveland; hopefully won’t ever have to experience anything like that again

I knew as soon as 13 relatives and 3 labs moved into my house in Riverbend. It was hard to not notice.

That Friday night we went to the Wheel of Fortune taping. We went to dinner afterwards and they had tvs turned on the news, they put that 10 pm map up and the entire restaurant went stone cold silent since that forecast had a big jump towards us.

Went home, packed up, and left for Jackson MS right after the Saturday 10 am update. Didn’t have too much to pack, as some stuff was still packed from an evacuation a few weeks earlier. Threw a few boxes of irreplaceable items, 3 days worth of clothes, I to the car and took off.

That was the last night I ever slept in that house. It was a rental. 12 feet of water later, it was torn down.

Not all of us ruined BR.

I went hurricane grocery shopping on Saturday and the air just felt “off.” It was still and no birds. Sunday we woke up to “leave” so we left and worked in offices in BR and stayed with relatives. Returned home after Halloween when office opened back up. NOLA was so nice and peaceful for a while.

There we go. Only took three replies for this bullshite to start. LOL.

And Baton Rouge was a wonderful beautiful place prior to Katrina, even though they were the nations murder capital per capita in the early 90’s.
And let the natural disaster dick measuring contest begin with stories how others pulled themselves up by their bootstraps.

lol no

BR has been a boring shithole for as long as I can remember and Houston ruined itself.

19 years and none of those places are better - and would still be shitty even if Katrina wouldn’t have happened.

We actually only lost power in BR for an hour or two. My wife and I lived in a townhouse on O'Neal and watched everything unfold on TV.

Crazy that 60-70 miles away it was absolute chaos. The population influx was pretty wild.

We had over 20 extended family from Nola come to the house in BR. It was a nightmare. Drunk uncle passing out mid day from deleting a case of beer. Lost power for a day or two. Unexpected friends of extended family showing up unannounced. 10 people to a bedroom. Hope that never ever happens again
