Another Cop shoots a dog. Davenport, Iowa edition

911 call comes in of 4 aggressive dogs roaming the streets
Cop is dispatched to investigate
Cop rides around and finds "Myst" not on a leash with a couple of kids
Cop asks kids to put dog on a leash
Next video shows Myst running across the yard barking at the cop
Once Myst gets to the cop, the tone of the barking changes
Cop retreats some
Cop unloads two rounds, one of which fatally strikes Myst
Bonus: (Cop was accused of running over a dog last month)
Trigger happy cop?
Cop predispositioned to believe this could be one of the dogs he was called for?
Neglect of training or restraint by owner of the dog?
Both parties share some culpability?
Twitter comments slightly leaning towards siding with the cop
In the end, a kid lost his dog.

frick that cop. And he’s just standing around afterwards like no big deal.
Dog came up to him but it doesn’t look like it was trying to attack. Just being a good guard dog and barking at some stranger approaching his property.
Man I really wish I hadn’t watched that.

If your dog is aggressive to people walking by, why leave it in the front yard off the leash?
But most dogs don’t leave their yard. Didn’t look like this one did. Cop could have easily just backed away.

There’s just to many cops that really just shouldn’t be cops.. they increasingly rely on deadly force instead of common sense. Hope he gets suspended at the least

A lot of times the cops are ridiculous in these instances but that was a big arse dog that sprinted right at the cop and sure acted like and sounded like it wanted everything the cop had to offer

What the frick did you want him to do? Suck the bullet out the dog? Immediately start the paperwork?
People have to control their animals or there will be consequences… and I say that as a dog lover

Dog was just barking didn’t look like it lunged for the cop at any point.
My dogs run up and and bark at any random person approaching my house also. Most dogs do. This cops just an idiot.

Dog could have bit the cop, you can’t see shite from that angle
Funny how you can say that with such certainty

Maybe try and help the dog idk. lol sitting there like a deer in the headlights just kinda makes it seem he’s a trigger happy cop

I mean the dog stayed on its property it seemed. He saw that the owners were right there with the dog on their property, give them the chance to get their dog.

I would be pretty upset with the cop if he shot my dog. I would also be pissed at myself for not building a fence, training the dog, or keeping it where it can't run up on people.
