Has anyone on the board done a black bear hunt in Quebec Canada? One of my buddies is planning on having his bachelor party in Montreal next year and we are thinking about a few of us going early and getting in a hunt. Considering either spring or fall.

Seems there are lots of outfitters. Just wondering if anyone had any good experiences and if there are dos or don'ts. TIA

I believe you HAVE to use a Canadian outfitter to hunt in Canada?
Is that right?

7-8 of my bow hunting friends have Booked and hunted with this outfitter. (La Pourvoirie Des Bouleaux Blancs) several killed P&Y bears and booked return trips

Do the hunt after the party. A raw bear hide and strippers seems like trouble.

I've just never had a reason that justifies me killing a bear.

I'm a live and let live kinda hunter. If I don't wanna eat it I don't wanna kill it.

Never had bear meat but not really interested.

Has anyone else had it here?

Bear meat is very good, just make sure it's cooked. Pretty much every bear has trichinosis. Have to make sure it's cooked to kill the parasite. I have had it in stews, gravies and kabobs, all were excellent

a cooler full of bear meat, jars of bear grease and a bear hide are exactly the reasons I want to go hunt a bear

Never cared for bear meat in TN or NC, but in Alaska bear feeding on blueberries, currants, cranberries, etc was fantastic.

Love people who feel compelled to reply with nothing the OP asked for and an opinion nobody requested.

Quebec is good bear country and offers guided and semi guided bear hunts, depending on what you seek. Once you decide on how you want to hunt them, its easier to narrow down an outfitter. NRA American Hunter has a list of outfitters you could also consult.

I have no problem admitting there are animals I have no interest in eating but if there’s tags for em I wanna kill ‘em once. I’ll take a bear rug and skull all day long, don’t even care about the meat

Curious about what there is to do in Montreal at a bachelor party? I'll be there for a week next month for work.
