Ole Miss game - my brother and I are neutral parties coming to the game

Thought I'd post this here as well the Tickets forum, since I'm also looking for parking, but I'm also looking for some LSU football info... Any help or advice is much appreciated.
Any rules I should know about tailgating (what can or can't bring, etc.)?
Any local bars / restaurants that we should check out before or after the game?
I'm looking for a parking pass to the Ole Miss game. Just bought my game day tix, but couldn't get parking from box office although they told me there are some free parking locations and to check the map (I suspect it's hard to get in the free parking areas and that they fill up early). Any help with someone selling at a reasonable price would be much appreciated.
Up front, my brother and I are neutral parties coming to the game. We think this is a great game to come visit and make our yearly sports weekend trip. I'm a Rutgers alumni. and my brother is an ND fan.
Every year he and I get together to do a multi-game sports weekend. We were doing it before the pandemic and restarted the last 2 years. We usually try to target a city area where we can go to a NCAAFB game, an NFL Game, and possibly a MLB, NHL, NBA or NCAABB game.
This year is New Orleans/Baton Rouge...fly in Friday, catch Ole Miss @ LSU game in Baton Rouge (hoping it becomes a night game), then Buccs @ Saints, then fly home on Monday. I already have the Ole Miss @ LSU tix, but need to get parking.
We're also going to the Rutgers @ Va Tech game this year. One RU away game per year...in addition to the Sports Weekend....although sometimes the sports weekend centers around an RU game as well. First year at Michigan we went to that game and then caught a Red Wings game in Detroit.
Last year we went to Clemson game, Carolina Panthers game, UNC Basketball opening day game, and a Carolina Hurricanes game on a Friday to Wednesday, long weekend. Other trips were to Houston to see Astros, drove up to Dallas to see Texas Rangers (last day of season), then Cowboys game.
Thanks in advance!!

Go to Chimes on Highland for lunch or a morning Bloody Mary. Their rooftop bar is new and awesome. Other than that, the tailgating is the best in the country. You can walk up to mostly any tailgate, say your spiel, and they'll welcome you guys to hangout as long as you like.
Enjoy our Cajun culture and the best atmosphere in football!

My advice:
Get there early and do the free parking. There's plenty of free parking. Campus will be packed all day from 8am to the end of the game.

Unlike every other college campus, open containers of alcohol are not typically policed at LSU, unless you are being a jerk.
Have fun and enjoy the experience.

Welcome. It will be a great time.

If you can (and don't mind) WALKING a bit in a nice Southern college campus setting with live oak trees, parking should not be a problem. There are plenty of free areas ON campus, just pick where you want to go. Wear comfortable shoes.
We park and tailgate in a free lot on campus, and walk just under a mile across campus to the stadium.
Make sure to see:
1. Mike the Tiger in his habitat across from the stadium.
2. The band come down the hill before the game.
You'll find LSU tailgaters very friendly and giving, (even to opponents, after some good natured ribbing). I'd suggest you wear your Rutgers and ND gear to the game, just as a conversation starter.
Most of all, HAVE FUN!

Some of the closer ones do fill up pretty quickly, usually by 1 or 2 for the big night games, but there are always free options out by the levee off Gourrier. It is quite a hike but the weather shouldn't be too hot/humid by the time of the OM game. In recent years, LSU has cracked down a good bit on parking along streets or in medians, etc. outside of the designated free grass lots. So don't do that as a general rule.
Depending on your timeline, you may be able to get a spot near the Lod Cook Hotel, between it and the LSU Rec Center. That lot only gets jam packed early for big day games, or for homecoming when all of the Greek Houses have parent events. Still a bit of a walk, but its entirely through campus and plenty of tailgates to check out.
ETA: One more tip--if you guys are staying in New Orleans, look at the LSU gameday traffic maps and figure out how you are going to get back to I-10. Post game traffic can be pretty terrible after big games and there is contraflow on most of the major arteries. So if you are planning on being there all day tailgating and don't mind walking a bit, I would suggest basing your parking choice on your exit route.

Hadn't seen that. Thanks for posting.
frick everything if that UCLA game is a 2:30 kick. Tiger Stadium is an oven for September day games.

The game will be at night. I wouldn't stress over parking passes. Get there by 9 AM and you'll get decent free parking. Don't listen to anybody telling you to arrive at 1-2. You'll miss a lot of what makes LSU unique.

Pick a side bro, no neutrality. I expect to see you in P&G gear

Man I just don’t trust this to be true anymore. Might have been a thing back in the day but I could totally see people running off strangers from their tailgate.
People spend insane amounts of money on these tailgates and I could picture them just not being cool with a random person mooching.

Not ND. Don’t wear that

IF, you plan on 'crashing' random tailgates....I would suggest you CONTRIBUTE SOMETHING in addition to your alledged looks and great personality !

As others have said there certainly are many tailgates who welcome strangers in with open arms. As a general courtesy, it's a good idea to bring some beer (or whatever your drink of choice is) with you as you meander around campus.

Have seen similar. Some tailgates are more inviting than others. Not shocking.
OP, bring a cheap disposable backpack cooler or something similar with beers. It's a better look when approaching a tailgate if you appear to have put forth some effort vs just wanting to mooch. Sounds like you've been around enough to know this though.

Tell him to wear his ND gear. You can get a shirt like the image below and I promise you'll eat and drink for free the whole day.
