Hole in the wall - Destin, FL

Traveling to Destin FL for a vacation and looking for something a little more specific than what I found via search.
I’m looking for a kind of a dive hole in the wall for the inevitable rainy day and also serves lunch.
I’m familiar with the more popular places like AJs, Boshamps, and Harbor Docks. Would go there if need be but want an overall different vibe.
Specifically, looking for an amazing fish sandwich and a cold beer. May even get weird and get some raw oysters. Bonus points for view on the water. I thought Red Door may be it based on looks but looking at the menu it doesn’t seem to have the fish sandwich.

Dewey Destin's on the Harbor
Fresh fish, cold beer and looks over the water

Red Door definitely isn't that. But at the bottom of the hill from there is The Boathouse. They'll have what you're looking for.

Dewey Destin Seafood (og location, not harborside) maybe? Their indoor seating is limited but it is definitely a hole in the wall and food is solid. Harborside is good too, it is more of a sit down restaurant, the OG is just more the vibe you seem to be describing. Both locations overlook water, though OG is right on the water and most of the seating is on the docks going into the Bay.

I knew this board would have some good recs! That mahi sandwich at Dewey Destin is in strong contention for the move to be made. Thanks y’all!

Last time I was there, I got the fried captains platter and was very happy with the choice, though had to be rolled home. The smoked tuna dip is good as always too.

We went to the one in Ocala and the staff was really, really nice. The food was lacking.

Pompano Joe's on old 98 has a great fried grouper sandwich and is on the beach.

At the original location on the bay they used to have blue crabs if you asked. They wouldn't have them every day, but you could usually get some there if it wasn't too crowded and others knew to ask.

This post reminds me of the hole in the strip mall we used to go to called Busters down in Destin. Such a crappy place, but they had a happy hour on oysters where they were like 4 for a dollar or something crazy.

Yeah, Buster’s had really good food!

If you feel like driving a few minutes head to Fort Walton and hit up FUBAR pizza or Hightide Lounge
Both very old school dive joints
Used to be a dive called Buster’s near the outlet mall that had a great burger but I’m almost positive it closed
ETA; See Buster’s has already been mentioned

I like this thread and love these kind of places. Dives are so cool, especially gulf coast dives.

FUBAR is about six years old...not exactly "old school dive."
HighTide is a good rec, though.
