Traveling I49 between Shreveport and Natchitoches. Any recommendations on eateries to stop with my family?

You’re gonna have to eat in Shreveport or Natchitoches. The area between is no man’s land with very limited food options. Coushatta has Shanks Cat BBQ, but they’re only open 3 days a week. When traveling through Natchitoches and I have an hour to burn, I’ll eat at a meat pie at Lasyones

Unless you want to hunt or cook roadkill. Between Lafayette and Natitoches it’s wilderness.

There are two truck stops on I49 between Shreveport and Natchitoches. The one closer to Shreveport at the Hwy 175 exit had a restaurant but have never eaten there so don’t know if it’s good or not. Other than that they have typical hot box food in the c store. The other truck stop is at the Carmel exit. It’s pretty run down. They have a restaurant as well and it’s ok. Nothing special. Eaten there twice. Had club sandwich once and beer tips and rice the other. That’s it. Nothing else.

Personally I would wait til Natchitoches and either eat at French Market at the exit or drive on into town and either eat at Almost Home or Lazyonnes.

Do not go to the French market. They are working all off of that exit doing road work and it is a freaking nightmare

You would think Alexandria would have some decent restaurants, but they don’t have much imo.
