3 yards and a cloud of dust.

At the time, when Les Miles was still coaching LSU, it drove me batshite crazy when Leslie would just line up and run into a nine man box. The opposite has happened the last couple of seasons, and that is LSU being unable to run between the tackles to pick up a 3rd and 2.
I don't think we'll ever go back to the Les Miles philosophy, but I do think that this year there will be a more concerted effort to be more balanced. With the offensive line LSU returns, and with a stable of good (to great) rb's, I think they will lean more heavily on the run game this year.
The value of a long, physical drive cannot be over-stated. Especially in college where depth really does matter. Here's an example of how this might benefit LSU with their upcoming schedule.
Ole Miss has a very good starting defense; however, once you get beyond the starting 11, the quality of that defense drops off dramatically. A physical run game might be just the ticket to neutralize their defense (and offense for that matter).
I don't ever want to see the "Les Miles Philosophy" again, but I am looking forward to a physical, down hill run game this year.

Hate to say, I think we're in for a long year.
QB solid
RB potentially solid
WR very much unproven except Lacy appears ready
OL very solid
DL unknown
LB Perkins very solid, others unknown
DB unknown
That's a lot of question marks.

Tons of questions.
Could easily drop 3-5 games.

Doesn’t automatically mean the answer will be bad. I expect our defense to be “better” than last year (which isn’t saying much). We will know after the USC game

You left off the coaching changes. I believe that those changes, especially on the defensive side, will offset many of the inadequacies in personnel. Many a mediocre player has done well because the right coach put him in the right spot.

LSU is definitely gonna run the ball more this season to help keep the defense off the field
Kelly has already mentioned it in press conferences about complementing the defense
I don't expect Miles style of play but last year it was having to outscore everyone, this year not so much

We were actually really balanced last year.
Balance doesn’t really mean an equal number of passing plays and running plays. Or even fairly equal yardage on the ground and air.
Balance is being able to run or throw with equal effectiveness based on what is happening in the game. That’s it. Some games you really rely on the pass, others the run.
Ideally “ballance” is the offense dictating the pace to the defense.

IMO, we must be a very effective running team....and we should be able to do so with the O-line we got.

Wr: daniels had 1k yds and 10 tds, last year, and zavion had 500 yds in a horrible offense. Those 3 + hilton/ anderson are 5 jr-srs with lot of games under their belt.

True.
But, LSU is not competing in a vacuum. Other teams have questions too.
USC has almost the exact same questions as LSU
UCLA had a HC that didn't want to recruit or be a HC leave right before spring ball.
@ Florida, Arkansas, South Carolina, A&M. ALL have questions. Do you see certain multple losses there?
Alabama, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Vandy.
Ole Miss has not won in BR since 2008...and there have been a few solid OM teams come through. A certain dark emperor will not be roaming the sidelines for Alabama this year. And he lost to a "rebuilding" LSU team last time he was in BR. Vandy is Vandy. OU has questions and LSU will be the last game of a brutal stretch for them.
Yes, LSU has questions....but so does everyone else.

Yeah, LSU wasn't particularly "balanced" last year from a scheme standpoint. They just had a QB who could, any often did, turn a called pass play into a run. The running game outside of Daniels was pretty average and I'm pretty confident in saying it wouldn't have been a strong point of the offense if Daniels wasn't the one doing most of the running.
He had nearly as many rushing attempts on his own as Williams, Emery, Cain, Jackson, COMBINED.

Lesticles learned from Bo Schembechler and Woody Hayes. A lot of teams (Nebraska, etc.) followed that mantra of getting/building great O-lines and punishing the defense, especially in the second half of games. I grew up an Ohio State fan and don't even remember if they had any really great WRs. Moved from Ohio to NO/BR and became a Tiger...

That Les Miles offensive game plan would be a winner vs USC. Wear them down with the run game, keep the USC offense off the field, and let the LSU Offensive Line feast on a weak USC defense.

QB solid
RB deep
WR solid and deep (this is a top 5 WR corps nationally with 3 very talented receiving tight ends that could all produce)
OL arguably best in nation
DL unknown
LB Perkins, Weeks, Penn solid
DB Stamps good, others unknown

I wouldn’t mind seeing them pound the rock a little this year.
It takes advantage of their strength on offensive line. Plus, they have some backs who run hard.
It would also help open things up for play action, make for easier throwing lanes for a QB and WRs who are less experienced playing together entering the season, compared to the group we had last year.

I don't disagree with your analysis although I'd point to the interior DL as known and bad, and the Cornerbacks known and bad.
The question is what you mean by "long year" though.

I agree LSU should run as much as possible this year, as long as it works. Did you hear that Les Miles - AS LONG AS IT WORKS!!!

lol what?
Between Lacy, Daniels, Thomas that’s 2,000 yards and 20 tds just last season alone

Watched the entire bowl game from last season last Sunday. Was not impressed with what the great o-line did in run support. Pretty good pass blocking but no holes for running backs. This has to improve for your desired offense to work
