I currently have a FoodSaver and can’t seal more than one or two bags before the “tray is full” light comes on.
Tray is never full. Just a bit wet.

What’s the best sealer for fish?

No issues with our Foodsaver for fish. My wife usually does pat the fillets dry before using the Foodsaver after I've cleaned and rinsed them off though.

Tried them all. None work for trout, 3/4 weeks tops they turn . Freeze in water only way I can get 3-4 months on trout. I go weekly year round eat as many fresh as I can. Can keep fresh in bottom of fridge for 8-10 days in ice bath.

A chamber vacuum sealer. Period. Brand is mostly irrelevant. Oiled pump is best, but even dry ump chamber is better than suction vacuum.

NOLAGT convinced me to buy a JVR Chamber sealer before fishing season. Shame on me for not doing it sooner. Like night and day. Big snapper slabs are a bit of a challenge, everything else is easy peasy.

If we vacuum seal fish we freeze them on a cookie sheet first and then seal them in bags. Works a little better that way

If you are on a tighter budget, I have had really good results with the higher end Anova brand one. I use it for everything from meats to fish and it preforms very well.

FoodSaver has bags that have a moisture strip in them, or you can just put a paper towel in your bag.

Chamber sealer is the best option, but if you don't want to spend that kind of money, I lay my filets out individually on a cookie sheet and pre-freeze them. Then vacuum them, they're tight and last a long time in the freezer.

My next one will be a chamber sealer but I have an older cablela’s and new FS sealer and seal a ton of fish. Pat them dry first. I pulled a 1 year old pack of redfish last week and they were excellent.

Also FYI I know a guy who works for environmental testing firm that said they stored soil in ziplocks and got arsenic in the tests. They thought it was in the soil, but retested soil (not in a ziplock) and no arsenic. Then they figured out it was in the sharpie ink bleeding thru bag.

Not sure if that’s legit but now I mark my bags above the seal line.
