Why do we still have troops in Iraq again? Or Syria for that matter?

Iraq told us to leave. We threatened them and they changed their mind

Russia has permission to be in Syria. The USA is illegally occupying parts of Syria and stealing its oil.

Damn that is horrible.

My oldest was stationed north of of Baghdad a few years ago. They were even then getting mortars and rockwts fired at them from Iranian financed groups.

Prayers sent

Here come the board democrats: "it's no big deal they did not die and this caused Iran to waste missiles. This is actually a win."

I love that you think that's what matters when your son and the military are the trespassers.

It’s a small footprint that has value in two primary areas 1) killing known terrorists before they launch plans or once they stick their heads up after launching plans and 2) preventing the all out genocide of the Kurds.

That area of Iraq is fairly modern and nice compared to other areas.

Are we actually stealing oil from Syria?

They weren’t firing bullets. It was probably just shrapnel. Seriously, what kind of missile attack? I have a feeling we will never find out what happened.

Al Asad was very nice in the early 2000s. Camp cupcake, DFAC 5 ftw. They also have a pool there where Sadams Olympians would train. It’s a huge strategic base and one of the few we didn’t shut down.
