I'm a lifelong LSU fan and recent college grad, and have saved up money for months to go on the ultimate SEC football road trip this fall. I am a photographer, and am doing a photo project about the culture, tailgating, and traditions surrounding SEC college football. I grew up in BR and LSU football is more than just the game, its a way of life, as it is in college towns across the South. I am 24 and couldn't think of a better way to spend the next few months than to get to the heart of this thing we all love so much. Here is what I have planned out:

MAP

Week 1: UT Chattanooga at Tennessee
Week 2: Texas at Michigan
Week 3: Alabama at Wisconsin (hoping for a crazy upset!)
Week 4: Arkansas at Auburn
Week 5: Georgia at Alabama
Week 6: YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway (a diversion, but I've always wanted to go)
Week 7: Ole Miss at LSU
Week 8: Georgia at Texas
Week 9: LSU at Texas A&M
Week 10: Florida vs Georgia in Jacksonville, FL
Week 11: Alabama at LSU
Week 12: Tennessee at Georgia
Week 13: Ole Miss at Florida
Week 14: Mississippi State at Ole Miss (Nov 29), OU at LSU (Nov 30)

I'm going to hit nine SEC college towns, plus Ann Arbor and Madison, WI, which both should be a good time. It will be almost 20K miles of driving, and I'm converting my car to sleep in comfortably when not staying with friends. In between games will stay in state parks, and see everything else in the South I've always wanted to. Its ambitious but I've done many many road trips and have friends all over the place.

The first half of the season I am pretty set on, but the second half is somewhat tentative depending how the season unfolds. I hope to go to almost every game, but a few could potentially be cost prohibitive, though I mostly intent to photograph the traditions and partying rather than the games themselves. And of course it may be extended depending on what happens in the playoffs.

Overall, I'm very excited and will post updates if y'all are interested. If you have any inquiries, shoot me an email: williamclarkecasey@gmail.com. Or follow me on instagram for updates once it gets going: @williamclarkecasey.

College football peaked in the early 2000s, baw. Sorry you missed out.

Sounds fun but the 100k you could make this year working could be worth millions if invested properly. But if it’s worth it to you - have fun

Will you be posting anything on social media? This is pretty cool. I'd be interested in keeping up with your trip.

I like the Cocktail Party and have been several times and the split stadium is pretty cool but the gameday atmosphere doesn't really compare to on-campus games. Most of the pre-game fun happens miles away at condos and beach houses. It's an excuse to drink, golf and take a vacation during non vacation season. But I guess you could still photograph some of that.

4 Georgia games eh? Sounds like you've got a 2nd favorite team.

With travel distances and how the schedule worked out it is disportionally represented. Might drop one later in the season and see something else. I will reach out though and thank you so much!
