Any baws here ever use hypnosis to cure an addiction? Alcohol, cigarettes, caffeine, etc?

Used to hear about this working pretty well for cigs back in the day but no first hand knowledge. Was always curious as I’m trying to help a subordinate kick the booze as the next step will be his termination.

Hypnosis cured my zyn addiction. But now whenever the phone rings I hop around on one foot.

Can't hurt to try it.... some swear by it, most think it's snake oil.

Yeah that totally won’t end in a lawsuit.

A lot of addictions are fueled by stress

Something I’ve found that always helps with stress is an ice cold beer

I've read that Ozempic type drugs can help with addiction, especially alcohol.

I'll have to try that. Cigarettes usually work for me.

The key is to finding a new substance, so that no one can ever say you’re addicted to a particular substance.

Addiction is not a disease, you don't cure it. You just stop doing it

You don't want to have to give up the fries and go back to mopping. I don't blame you.

My brother quit tobacco in all forms with hypnosis. He smoked and progresses (regressed) to chewing tobacco. Was hypnotized to have a negative reaction when HE tried to use the stuff. Claims nausea and frightfully grotesque flashes (his words) resulting from hypnosis.

He hasn't touched tobacco for more than 20 years.

Will it work for everyone? Heck if I know, but it 'don't hurt to try it.'

I want hypnosis to cure me of paying attention to politics. If I can't control anything about it anyway, why do I even need to know? I'd take some subliminal trick to just make me indifferent to it all in a heartbeat.

Or time and repetition.

Easier said than done obviously, but if you refuse to interact with it and replace thoughts of it with other thoughts, you’ll eventually start placing it in the “I don’t care” bucket. Or at a minimum, the thoughts won’t be as invasive.

This is a long and painful process.
