Any suggestions in the Nola/BR area? Only sidearms, nothing extravagant. I searched TD, but couldn’t find anything. TIA

FRC!! They have a dedicated pistol only range, a brand new part of their facilitiy. Also they have good RSO's who let you rapid fire if your actually hitting your target

I second FRC. Currently the best spot in town. Although I did like shooting the plates at Precision

Apocalypse Sports in Ponchatula just built a new facility off of I55. 25 yard indoor range to open at the end of August according to their FB page. The retail portion is open now I believe.

Precision used to be a great spot but I stopped going there when I walk up to the counter check in on one trip an looking through the glass to see how busy the range was I sees some dreadlock thug hopping around with his handgun in one hand and his cell phone in the other apparently filming himself singing and jumping around (what I can only imagine was him making some rap video). I just packed my shite up and left. Haven't been back.

Range USA is the only other range I know of in the area but I've also heard a lot of negative comments about the rude staff there. Haven't been there though so I cannot confirm or deny but, negative things like that are apt to keep me away especially at their prices for range time.

iirc Bass pro stopped letting people use their small range unless you buy a firearm from them.

I've been to Range USA five or six times, and every time I have been there, their staff have been wonderful.

They don't allow rapid fire, and it's primarily designed to keep the people who hold a pistol sideways out when shooting.

I'm pretty safety conscious and appreciate a range keeping idiots out. However, I'm practicing with my EDC gun 3 out of 4 trips to the range. If I can't practice 3 to 5 round bursts into the "A" zone, then I'm just not going to go there. I feel like a range shouldn't have black and white rules like that. Let range officers police stupid behavior. Start hitting anything that's not your target...gone. Point your firearm anywhere but downrange...gone. But accurate, rapid shots should not be the problem.

I tend to agree with this. I'm not a plinker, I train for a reason also. Punishing everyone for the ignorance of a few isn't a good model in my view. Deal with the problem people not everyone preemptively.

Why search TD as opposed to Google?

Because I’d rather hear from some folks that have knowledge and experience of visiting the places they mentioned, instead of some bit randomly commenting on an establishment.
Any other dumb questions?

Thanks all for the info and suggestions everyone. Will check out FRC soon.

So let others do the work for you.... I see. Nothing wrong with searching these places out for yourself and coming to your own conclusion. My opinion of places may not be the same as yours and vice-versa. But hey.... you do your thang.

Haven't visited. I joined LA Guns and Range, though. They are also outstanding.

I plan to visit Apocalypse when the range opens. I purchase most of my guns from them because they not only have the best selection in SELA, they have GREAT prices.
