Did you anticipate him saying the defense would continue to be historically terrible?
At this point I don't care about camp soundbytes. I've seen enough terrible defense. I'm ready to see improvement.

I don't feel Kelly has ever sugar coated where he feels his team is at. I'm inclined to take him at his word.

Well what would you think he was gonna say? Lsu had the worst defense in school history last year. They cannot be worse than that so what he is saying is actually on point. Better defensive coaching staff with an off-season of additions and strength and weight training. Expect a better defense and more team speed than last year.

To be fair he’s been pretty blunt in the past about where we are at from that end. Certainly put a most optimistic spin on it but in year 1 he was like “we need more time to build this roster” and last year he directly pointed out that they will need guys to step up big time in order to be able to compete at the level they expect.

I mean they better be. Last year was historically bad and we wasted the 2nd best offense in lsu history.

Yea, but as bad as the defense was last year, much improved would be somewhere around average. If we would have had an average defense last year, we probably are contending for the playoffs. I don't expect the offense to repeat what it did last year.

Bought into what? Kelly never praised the defense last year. He repeatedly cautioned us on the state of the defense. He did every thing but tell us they were flat out bad.
You’re thinking of Les and Ed apparently. they’re the ones who made bold statements about how good terrible units would be.
