You Gulf Coast baws have Hurricanes, we’ve got our first big wildfire here in Northern Colorado. I’m a few miles east of this one

Shot a mule deer on that mountain last year and had plans to hunt Elk/Deer up there again this year. Depending on how big it gets I may turn my tag in to get my points back.

It’s been a tinder box for a month, was only a matter of time. Raining burnt pine needles in my yard, pretty covered up with smoke. Currently at 300+ acres. Planes and copters from Grand Junction have been sent over. Guernsey, WY sent us a chopper as well. I hope they contain it for my selfish hunting reasons

Any other baws out west dealing with fire?

For anyone familiar with the area, HWY 34 entrance into Estes Park is closed both ways

We've got a few in the Sierras to the southeast and also to the east of us. The really bad one is further north which was over 380,000 acres and only 16% contained as of last night. Fire tornados formed too. They've traced the smoke from that fire all the way to the east coast. Stay safe out there.

All because some a-hole set a car on fire and rolled into a thicket. That fire had perfect weather, perfect fuel, and perfect terrain to run quickly. Conveniently started on the first of a string of Red Flag days. Thank goodness they finally got a couple of decent weather days to help catch up on it a bit. It'll burn a while, though, with not a whole lot of help from fire breaks and plenty of fuel.

The Hotshot Wakeup is a good follow, and his podcast is really good, too.

I’m about 30 miles west of the Park fire, been a hazy few days. Just drove back from Idaho last weekend, of the 11hr drive, only 2 hours weren’t through smoke

It could be worse. I think that fire has gotten some help keeping much of the smoke aloft.

Here's a good breakdown of the Park fire if you're interested. This guy does good work, too.

We had some family property and the log cabin on it burn last year.

Is that dickhead governor still not allowing control burns in the name of climate change?

In South Central Montana and we've had smoke for last 2 weeks or so. Latest fire was about 70 miles from where I live. Couldn't see the mountains most of today and I'm only a few miles from them. August is when it usually gets bad but definitely had some smoke this year between Canadian fires and other Montana wild fires.

We’re just 7 miles from the fire. I’m working out of town and the wife flies out tomorrow. The evacuation line is pretty damn close to the house.

We’re headed up to Granby/Winter Park this weekend—how is that area fairing? Hoping to get to Rocky Mountain National Park next week.

We just had 400 acres burn from a lightning strike in Ft Morgan. 400 acres doesn’t sound like a lot but Google maps that peninsula. It’s a sliver of land. It was 30 feet from the home in The Rookery.
