If it's under $950, just walk out with it. Whats the worst that could happen?

Standard checkout is still an option.

This - I love self checkout. I’m faster than their clerks.

They'll have a cashier waiting by the self checkout to assist people like you, but the regular lines with a standing cashier are over to the side.
Unless you're in the future.
I can see places like Walmart or McDonald's going solely self checkout at some point, but not a store like Lowes

It really is a beautiful scam. You round up, they collect the money, they make the donation to the charity, they take the tax exemption, lol.

I check myself out faster than anyone else could. I prefer it that way

If there’s not a long line I walk over to the lumber side and check out there to make a real person check me out. Agree customers should get a 1% discount for using self check out, I dont fricking work there

It was a headache for you to self-checkout one item?

Where the savings if they aint got to pay for a cashier…insurance…training ect…where the cost benefit to the consumer?

People will call you an old man screaming at the sky but this culture is getting out of hand.
Ordered 2 draft beers at a brewery last week and the tip options on the screen started at 25% - What the hell are we doing here?

It's hard to believe with today's tech you can't push your buggy through a scanner that reads all of the barcodes and in a matter of seconds tells you how much you owe.

Only in the lumber section at the Lowe's I usually go to, and good luck with that with all the contractors and Hispanic folks lined up ten deep.
They have four self checkouts. One is guaranteed to be out, the other has a couple old folks trying to figure out how to buy a cactus, another is jammed up because the system didn't recognize the blinds that a girl is buying, so that leaves......one for all the baws who just want to get in and out of the joint.
