Want to do the Natchez Trace thru Miss. and take in some battle ground areas from the Civil War. Any recommendations on things not to miss? TIA

Go to military park in Vicksburg. You can spend all day there if you want.

Certainly make your way to Vicksburg. It’s not far off the Trace. Shilo is up north. Natchez has fantastic history.

Vicksburg for sure.
Go north into Tennessee and visit Shiloh, then follow the armies south to Corinth. The interpretive center there is an extension of the NMP at Shiloh.
Also, the Tupelo Battlefield is right off the Parkway, and Brices Crossroads Battlefield isn't too far off the Parkway up US 45.

I watched some documentaries about the war and Natchez on YouTube, pretty interesting history.

Observe the speed limit on the trace. They don’t play with the speeding tickets and the limit is painfully low. Set the cruise control and enjoy the slow drive.

Not necessarily Civil War related, but one of these days, I'd like to go check out these two spots between Natchez and Vicksburg:
Windsor Ruins
Ghost town of Rodney

frick you you fig, I was just stating that after watching documentaries about the war and Natchez you should be able to find areas to explore along the trace with great history.
Do your own damn research and stop asking others for help.

lol, I’ve been called worse
I was getting at check out YouTube, watch some vids. Whatever you see that may interest you go check them out.
If you’ve done that already then a simple “I done that already” would have been a sufficient response…..

I value my fellow Tiger Droppings Travel board members opinions and suggested options more than most travel sites. If you don't want to involve yourself in requests for shared experiences, then DON'T bother posting your blather...go kick your dog or something else that doesn't involve people.

You seemed bothered,
Have fun on your travels bud.

You are probably used to people reacting to your antics in similar fashion. Actually I am not bothered. I feel sorry for keyboard warriors like you. I will

Bud I think we have a huge misunderstanding, I apologize for calling you a fig but you came at me 1st.
I sincerely didn’t mean to derail your thread or cast negativity on your endeavors.
This is last you’ll hear from me in this thread but I will keep checking back cause I enjoy Natchez and the history that city has.

Check out the restaurant in French Camp.
The parkway goes through Jackson...do a blue plate lunch at Walkers and a milkshake at Brent's Drugs. It's a step back in time in the deep south.

If you take the parkway all the way towards Jackson and you are a record (vinyl) fan then I highly recommend stopping at The Little Big Store in Raymond, MS.
Also we loved our dinner at Beechwood Restaurant &Lounge in Vicksburg

Definitely go see the gunboat at the Military park in Vicksburg. They raised it from the Mississippi and made a museum out of it. It is a must see.
When you get back, let us know if you felt really sad at the civil war sites. Every time I go to one, I get this overwhelming sense of sadness.
Hope you have fun.
