Got 8 rattlesnakes in West Texas this week (3 WDB, 5 Black-tailed), but made a stop South of San Antonio on the way home to break up the drive and just added #9. A fitting final snake of the trip and it was a sight to behold - a huge Western Diamondback rattlesnake stretched out across the road!

The catch…

This time I have to agree with you. When we walked up on it and I saw just how big it was and it curled up into that classic posture, my first words were, “Okay, I’m not handling this one.” Then a few minutes later…
This thing was so impressively massive and heavy - I just couldn’t resist.

…here’s the first of the Northern Black-tailed rattlesnakes we caught - this one was a sweetheart.

I’ll post more pics when I get home - trip was insane!

If you use this phrase as a search term on the A&M board you'll get over 5000 results.

Nah…I caught some lizards too.

Drove to San Antonio for a couple nights and met up with our friends from Florida, then went all over West Texas for 7 nights, back to San Antonio for a night, then heading home today.
We’d mostly try to sleep during the day then catch snakes from sunset to sunrise. Some days a few hours of sleep, some days none.

I go back and forth on my feelings about his posts.

At first I was in the "this dude is completely insane" camp but now I have found that my views have shifted to "this dude is completely insane, but I'm going to click on the thread to see just how insane he has gotten".

How do you go about finding properties to search? Are you using public lands or getting access to private?

First thought I had after seeing the first picture is that boy ain't right.

Thanks for sharing! Reminds me of a book by Harry Crews, Feast of Snakes, about a Georgia Rattlesnake Rodeo.
