Rumor that RDJ will play Dr. Doom in Secret Wars

This comes from Jeff Sneider, who's been very reliable lately. This scoop is worthy of discussion.

Rumors have been doing the rounds that Robert Downey Jr. could return as a Tony Stark/Iron Man Variant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for quite a while now, and the actor himself has admitted that he would be interested in reprising his most famous role should the opportunity arise.
If Downey Jr. does suit-up as Iron Man again, it will most likely be in one of the upcoming Avengers movies - but what if this new take on the Armored Avenger goes down a villainous path?
In his latest newsletter, Jeff Sneider says he's heard that Downey Jr. could return in a future Avengers movie, with his Stark Variant ultimately transforming into Doctor Doom. Interestingly, Downey Jr. initially auditioned to play the iconic villain in 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four movie before he landed the role of Tony Stark in Iron Man.
If this does happen, we'd say it would almost certainly be a "one-and-done" situation, as another actor will likely be cast as Doom in Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four reboot.

LINK ]Infamous Iron Man is an American comic book series featuring the Marvel Comics character Victor Von Doom. Written by comic veteran Brian Michael Bendis, and drawn by Alex Maleev, the series began publication in October 2016. Infamous Iron Man follows Von Doom as he takes on the persona of Iron Man after "Civil War II".[1]

Tony Stark being actual Doctor Doom... not really. Probably the closest would be Superior Iron Man - but while evil, he was not the aristocratic personality that Doctor Doom is always showcased as.
Doom was Iron Man, briefly, while Stark was dead and Doom was being more heroic. That lasted, I think, 12 issues before Doom was back to being a villain. It's a good read though.
We'd have to erase Reed's and Doom's history if Doom is just a Stark variant. I mean, it could still work - and RDJ is an amazing actor - but it would feel pretty weird. Better to make him an evil version of Iron Man (like Superior Iron Man) than make him into Doctor Doom, IMHO.

If this is real I'd think it was Disney pitching idea after idea to RDJ (along with hundreds of millions of dollars) until they found something he was interested in playing. I think if he'd demanded to play Squirrel Girl their reply would've been, "How much do you want us to pay you?"

“We refuse to admit that we need to take a five year break to revamp the MCU, so we’re going to throw a shite ton of money at a retread but make him a villain.”
It’s ridiculous. Just start shite over and follow the same formula. Marvel movies are popcorn flicks that should be fun and adventurous. You don’t need anything special about them. Build a team from the ground up, give them limited powers that advance as the villains advance, and progress into a major battle with a supervillain that has a backstory.
It’s not hard.

The need to cast a movie star for this role IMO. Think Denzel or Cruise. Not necessarily them but someone of that caliber.

Doom is supposed to be a classmate of Richards. So you’d need an actor in their late 40s around the same age as Pedro.
Coster-Waldau maybe? He’s got the gravitas to go toe to toe with anyone.

It is when storytelling is not the first and foremost goal.
They are almost literally in a fight against themselves. Either tell a good/great story or pound the message.
The two options seem unable to coexist for Disney (and everyone else.)

Hell no man. So if Marvel is going to be making shite up as they go along, I would rather Hydra Version of Captain America. They esentially introduced him in Endgame when Steve was on the elevator and HeiI Hydraed in Agent Sitwell's ear
No was the TVA only allowed for a 1 minite branchoff in the timeline. That could be a whole phase

with Amandla Stenberg rumored to take up the mantle as Iron Man

I'd be disappointed in RDJ the most as he's already said that coming back would cheapen Tony's sacrifice in End Game.
A slim "out" of being a Multiverse Tony would feel cheap, but hell, Dr. Doom? Utterly retarded. No way he does this.
Certainly no way many (me included) would waste time watching.
