Great find. And wow, the TWA commercial late in the 4th Quarter! Shows plane taking off just over the actor.

I was eight, and that was the first LSU game I attended.

After the game ended, my parents and I made our way down onto the field to exit the stadium. I guess we were parked on the opposite side of the stadium and it was shorter to walk across the field than around the stadium.

Whatever my parents' reason, (and maybe they just lied to me about it being a shorter walk so they could give me the experience of being on the field, I really don't know), I vividly remember walking across the field and being in such awe of the whole thing. Walking on the same field that Bert Jones, Tommy Casanova and Archie Manning had just played on and looking up at the stands and thinking Tiger Stadium was enormous, which it was, even back then.

Cool memories. Thanks for sharing, OP.

My dad is #93 DE. The defensive line had a game plan for Archie that day and they succeeded!

How did LSU go to the orange and not sugar as SEC champ?

Very few bowls had conference tie ins at that time. The Rose Bowl had the Pac 8 and the Big 10, that's the only one that I knew of back then.

Wow, football and Tiger Stadium were so different back then. To be honest, the crowd seemed louder and crazier back then. I heard one commentator say, "thats why they call it deaf valley, even though people are starting to call it death valley now." talk about nastalga

Ole Miss even waving rebel flags instead of that stupid arse shark or bear

I was 8 years old. Watched the game at home in New Orleans with my dad on our COLOR TV, while my mom and baby sister had to watch their stupid shows on the black + white TV.

Buddy Lee was my hero, but Bert Jones had a huge buzz about him. The future looked bright with Bert.

That was a great season, but the Notre Dame game was so painful.

Man, I loved that 1970 LSU team.

That's actually a really good game, particularly when Bert Jones came in. You could really tell that both Manning and Jones were legit NFL QBs. Buddy Lee was just a more experienced college QB but was no where near as talented as Jones.

I was in college and at this game. Great find. This was the golden days of the LSU-Ole Miss rivalry. I will never forget when Ronnie Estay sacked Archie in the end zone for a safety. He turned to th crowd, arms in air, we finally got that bastard. Great moment.

I was at that game. The bench seat were wood. This was maybe the second year after the I 10 bridge had opened. Previously you had to take the old bridge if coming from Lafayette and eiher go down Airline Hwy or use Plank road or Scenic. We would try to get to BR early and do some drinking at The Pastime Lounge. Great days

I remember it being a thing at the time, but nowadays it just seems weird that the opposing team would have their colors and logo at midfield and in the south (!) endzone.

I was there as a Boy Scout ushering patrons to their seats on the west side mid-field.

Art Cantrelle sure had a rough first quarter.

Tigers had a rough start that night. It really defies belief they ended up winning that game in blowout fashion
