Illegal immigrant sexually assaulted 14-year-old girl in Fort Walton Beach

A 20-year-old illegal immigrant is charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Fort Walton Beach.
Honduran man Kevin Mauricio Escobar-Munoz was arrested Wednesday on charges of sexual battery and burglary. He also has a hold for immigration.
The alleged incident happened on April 21 on just before 7 a.m.
According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, the victim told investigators she awoke in her home "to a Hispanic male she did not know sexually assaulting her. She reported that he covered her mouth with his hand and spoke Spanish. She stated that when he finished, he hugged her and possibly left out the back door."
A medical examination of the victim showed a positive finding for sexual abuse, according to deputies.
Last Thursday, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement reported the male DNA profile which matched the contributing male sample from the victim’s sexual assault kit belonged to Escobar Munoz.
"Investigators learned that Escobar Munoz was living within one mile of the victim’s residence," the sheriff's office says in a release.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, Escobar Munoz was deported in September of 2022.
