2024 has been an exciting year for The MICHELIN Guide, and today sees more buzz as Texas joins as the newest addition to the United States selection. Together with Travel Texas, the Lone Star State becomes the eleventh location to join the ever-growing list of North American destinations. And with award-winning barbecue, locally sourced seafood and steaks, and savory Tex-Mex, it's easy to see why our famously anonymous Inspectors couldn't wait to share their finds.

The first MICHELIN Guide Texas selection will be revealed later this year, and will feature culinary gems in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio.

It was long overdue based on some of the other places that have guides.

trusting a tire company to rate food is crazy

Being on the Michelin guide and receiving a Michelin star are not the same thing.

But I do agree that Texas deserves to be on the Michelin guide.

I was looking through a list of Michellin star restaurants in the US and noticed New Orleans has 0 which I thought was crazy. Is there a reason behind this or is LA cuisine not as good as we think? Atlanta has a shite load

They just arent giving stars yet outside of a few states but supposedly some NOLA restaurants may be eligible for stars soon

They've been doing it since tires were white and only the rich drove. It was too very people to drive for restaurant destinations. It makes sense in that light.

Emeril's, Commanders and August are all two star caliber restaurants.

Michelin does not review in Louisiana currently.

They came last summer as part of a scouting trip though.

Just a guess, but this probably has to do with the 2026 World Cup coming up, and the hosting locations.

From what I understand the Michelin Guide is pay-to-play, but that explains Atlanta and CDMX being reviewed in the past year or so.

If Michelin did come here, they would certainly get a star (maybe even 2, they are operating at another level...but I doubt 2). Could be the only place to get one.

Saint Germain's food is of close to star level, but not the service so I don't see them getting one.

Not sure how R'evolution has been since the remodel.

Maybe Dakar with all of their buzz?

They'd probably give one to Turkey and the Wolf just to make headlines

The new Emeril’s is a top 3 dining experience for me. Ate there a month or so ago when Daniel Boulud and Thomas Keller (only matched who they were weeks later while watching the Bear) and a bunch of other famous appearing chefs were visiting the restaurant and Emeril. Was very cool.

Yeah they were all in town for that competition.

Emeril's is starting to get some international recognition for their update. They would definitely be a starred restaurant in another city.

Does San Antonio have any restaurants worthy of a star? I didn't see any on my radar last time I was there. I'm sure Dallas, Austin, and Houston would all have a few.

If you sell 1000 tires you automatically become an expert on food.

But yeah can you imagine?

It was well known they were here. They went to Peche for sure (I know this one for a fact), and I heard they went to Saint Germain, Chemin, Herbsaint, Turkey and the Wolf, etc

They were at many places. I was joking earlier they aren't going to give it a star, but I bet it would be on Bib Gourmand. It is what it is

God I hope it’s *just* for Bib Gourmand. T&W has mailed it in for a while now anyway.

Back to the original intent of this thread.. there ar e certainly a handful of places that will get a star. New Emeril’s is a lock.

Agreed. I haven't seen them do anything interesting in a very long while

Only 5 spots got an actual star. Michelin didn't come to Atlanta until last year too. There are a decent amount they awarded, but other than those 5, the rest got bib gourmand and recommended restaurants. Some got service awards and things like that, but only 5 got an actual star and all of those were just 1 star.
