James David Vance (born James Donald Bowman on August 2, 1984) is an American politician serving as the junior United States senator from Ohio since 2023.
Born in Middletown, Ohio, Vance served in the Marine Corps before studying political science and philosophy at The Ohio State University and earning a Juris Doctor from Yale Law School. His memoir, which describes his upbringing in Middletown and his family's Appalachian values, became a New York Times bestseller and attracted significant press attention during the 2016 United States presidential election.[3] Vance launched his first political campaign for Ohio's Senate seat in 2021 and won the Republican nomination after being endorsed by former President Donald Trump. He defeated Democratic nominee Tim Ryan in the general election. He is the running mate for Donald J. Trump for the 2024 U.S. Presidential election.

Trump announced on Truth Social

Good. It’s time for you all to stop fricking complaining and fall in line. Trump knows what he’s doing.

So much for Trump picking better options this time around. Ugh. Youngkin and Scott were much better options that widened the map and didn't put a Senate seat at risk.

Tactically I don’t see what Vance brings to the table

Don’t love it but not sure it matters.

I mean if there is one thing Trump supporters could very validly complain about it’s his history of hires.

Was hoping for youngkin - but Vance is loyal at least and can speak
His past statements will be on a loop

You mean with that critical swing state of SC?
Exactly what state is going red for Tim Scott?

The twitter video will be used in ads against Trump.
