I’m no expert but having the snipers so close together seems silly. A better location seems to be where the gunman was.

Of course Monday morning qb-ing is also silly.

No it’s not. The second one is the accurate one. Chopper video showed the sniper dead on the roof where the 2nd layout notes the sniper.

What a complete disgrace. That should be enough to expose complete incompetence OR more likely, a conspiracy to murder the likely next president of the United States. What a joke the SS is.

If you are a civilian and see the guy go up a ladder with a gun, like the videos suggest… would you climb the ladder and confront the shooter? Those videos show people saying he’s got a gun but nobody tried to stop him. Not sure what I would do in that scenario

Why I keep going to the under-resourced thing. I'm no security expert, but I look at the layout and my first priority are the buildings behind and to Trump's right. Forget that SS didn't have the shooter's position "covered" by observation, why wasn't there a SS agent on that roof?

It’s amazing how negligent you have to be not to have a lookout on every rooftop out there. There are like 6 roofs. It would be different if this was in an urban environment with a ton of different rooftops.

Here is the 3D from Google Earth. No excuse for not securing that building.

I hate to think it possible, but the total ineptitude of the secret service AND the DOD/law enforcement, who had nearly 3 minutes of civilian warnings about a guy with a gun climbing a ladder, and crawling across a roof, doing nothing leads me to believe there could have been some kind of JFK level inside planning. Even if the counter snipers didn’t know where the guy was, which seems impossible considering they had direct line of sight and a bright white open roof, they still should have had radios to get trump off the podium before a shot was ever even made.

There was at least a 3rd sniper team. Not sure where they were. If I had to guess near that pond on the SE side or possibly just off the fair grounds to the S (would be facing the stage).

the two sniper teams on the barn(s) were facing opposite directions, essentially the flanks of the stage. The reason the sniper team on the left barn shows pictures of them presumably looking right at him is because that is indeed their sector. That tree line and rooftop was exactly what they were supposed to be covering. I think the prone sniper was on the trees and, of course, shifted to get on the roof once the firing started. His job was to check those trees before shifting first however.
