ND Governor Doug Burgum seems to be leading VP candidate.

One source close to Trump gave a slight edge to Burgum being the 45th president’s running mate, saying the North Dakotan had a 50-50 chance of being selected and Vance had a 30% chance, with Rubio and the field each having a 10% percent chance.

He’s a good candidate. Jack Posobeic & Charlie Kirk don’t like him but that’s because they are purist weirdos

Brings absolutely nothing to the ticket, much like Carson.

Why the hell would you build into the age issue with another old white dude?

I have yet to find one person that doesn’t like Carson. He’s Trump’s most loyal surrogate.

With that being said JD Vance has been on high on my radar lately

Aside from his Ukraine statements, his age is a liability. Harris and someone younger than her will be the Democratic ticket.

One of the narratives after the debate was "both Biden and Trump are too old."

I don't get the love for Burgum. I saw him recently on Face the Nation. He couldn't handle questions from Margaret Brennan

VP should be a legacy pick.

Someone younger who can carry the presidency another two terms.

We know that Trump likes a boring running mate.

What makes him a good candidate in your mind?

To me he doesn’t have name recognition.

Doesn’t come from a swing state.

Doesn’t have a great track record of supporting the MAGA wing of the party from an issue standpoint.

I’ll be the first to admit I haven’t tracked him closely because he was always under the radar so I’m open to hearing more about him.

Before the DeSantis war in the primary I wasn’t as concerned.

But now Trump is well up there in years and unless DeSantis and him mend bridges there is no clear future for the political viewpoints represented by the Republican populist movement that propelled Trump to the presidency.

All of that makes the VP choice critical because it should be the person who will take over the movement post Trump.

I haven’t seen anything to indicate Bergrum, Rubio or Vance are really committed to building onshore jobs, ending foreign wars or fixing the issues associated with unchecked immigration.

That doesn’t even touch the need to address the long term fiscal issues screaming our way due to inflation and unchecked spending.
