Do you give money to the homeless? I always prefer to pass food items or water, but what’s the most amount of money you’ve ever given to a beggar or
the homeless?
the homeless?

To the ones that wander like they dgaf in front of my car, I give them the gift of life by not hitting them.

Back when I was young and naive I gave a homeless guy $20 and it made me feel good.
Nowadays all I give them is a “frick off” and it makes me feel even better.

The Biden Administration probably gives them the most

I’ve never given much. I’ve bought food a few times for someone. Sadly, such a high percentage of beggars today are scamming people. I do remember my mom handing either a $10 or $20 to a homeless family with small kids back in the mid to late 80’s. Back then you almost never saw homeless people.

In Toronto this week a beggar was literally walking down the middle of the street at the stoplight. As we were leaving I flipped a quarter out the window. So if he converted it, about .34

I usually give them nothing, but one approached me once holding a baby, and I freaked and give him 20 bucks. It happened really fast, and after a couple of seconds, I thought that I never really looked to see if it was a real baby. If it was a real baby, how the hell did a homeless person get a baby? If it wasn’t a real baby, well played homeless person.

Total? About two grand. Homeless family due to disability and cancer. Was about to give them a car when a charity donated a van to them, and they were able to get a subsidized rent assistance place to stay. Felt really sorry for the two kids. Think the mother has since died from the cancer, in her 40s.

Not sure if this counts but I saw one of my former students drumming on paint cans in the French Quarter. Kid was from a really bad home environment and it was the type of situation where I wasn’t sure if he even got to eat meals outside of school. I was hammered and my buddies and I each gave him $20 so hopefully he didn’t spend it on anything bad lol.

I get irrationally angry whenever I see someone giving money to the beggars on the street

Years ago I felt bad for this kid on College Drive, so I gave him a $10'er. When I told my brother what I had done , he laughed his arse off, then showed me an article in the Advocate outlining how a group of Gypsies from North Carolina were in Baton Rouge scamming the crap out of people. Fool me once, shame on you, I learned my lesson.

In the early 90s, I dated a girl who was five years older than me (I was early 20s). We went through a drive-thru & got a bag of food.
Leaving the place, I was getting on the intersection to the highway & there was a homeless guy with a sign. Before I could finish asking if we should give him some, she starts shaking the bag at him and gleefully smiling.
