What was the scariest “We need to leave… now” gut feeling that you’ve ever experienced?

Was driving in New Orleans last week and almost stopped to get gas on Claiborne. Something felt eary and I said nah F this and managed to get gas on St. Charles on 0 miles.

Drove by Claiborne the day after and I see Barricade tape. Turns out 2 people got shot at the gas station the night I was going to get gas at.

Nice of you to place yourself at the scene at the time of the crime. Detectives will be speaking to you shortly.

When delivering pizzas in Ascension parish circa 2013. We'd deliver to these raggedy arse trailers off 929 called Lynch Road trailer park.

Not a "WE" need to leave moment, but more of a "oh shite" moment was watching Katrina blow up every 3 hours while drinking heavily at the Caterie that Saturday night before landfall, knowing I had family that refused to leave because they survived Betsy and Camille. Then drunkenly yelling at them at 2 am to leave now.

we had just moved to St Bernard parish - had a two year old and the next one was due any minute

I actually had a doctor’s appointment the Friday before the storm. My husband came with me and we went to superior grill after for lunch - his face changed mid enchilada and said ‘we need to leave tonight’

Leave for what? so we put all the kids’ stuff on top of the beds - took 3 days worth of stuff

Didn’t matter with 12 feet of water

Went to a baseball game at UH. Game ended late in the evening. When leaving, we were driving down the street to get to the freeway and a group of people were just standing on their front porch. Then, when seeing us coming, they got off their porch and started walking into the middle of the road. Went fuuuuuuuuck this and just turned on the next street available and got on the freeway going the wrong way

When I was a kid, camping with the family at Lake Casitas in California. Campground had a restroom building and I’m doing my business when this man comes in. Lights are out so all there is comes from ambient light from the poles wafting inside. He starts seemingly friendly chatting, and the more he speaks, the more the hair just starts rising on my neck. Everything is screaming “Get.Out”. I finished and take off running back to our camper. Never had such an instinct to run before or since.

This was 1978, the summer that serial killers and rapists were just multiplying in Southern Cal. Seemed like a girl or a kid was getting snatched every week.
