Some good mentions but do you know what type of games you like or used to like?

I almost didn't put it in there, but I was in his shoes 3+ years ago. Gamed a lot until life took over in early 2000s, in 2021 things settled down and I played those games (and a few others not on PS5 like the Halo and Gears games). I almost skipped Elden Ring because i had 0 Souls experience. Glad I didn't, it was one of the best gaming experiences of my life.
Now I agree it shouldn't be game 1.

Yep. Exactly the same for me coming back to gaming after 7 years.
However either way. I'd recommend it even early. You'll get your arse kicked early. But once you figure it out it's the most addicted I've been to a game in decades.
I'd also recommend Stardew Valley for something on the opposite end of the difficulty spectrum.

RDR, god of war series, the Witcher, Elden Ring. These are some of the greatest forms of entertainment ever.

Can I piggy back off of this? I need some non-sports games recs for my taste.
I play mostly sports games, NBA 2k23 still, MLB the Show from time to time, PGA Tour, and tons of NCAA back in the day. Obviously will play a ton of that starting in July.
The flip side is that I do play some non-sports games as well, but I don't get into fantasy for some reason. Some games I have played and liked are The Last of Us, Hitman, GTA, & SnowRunner.
I played Assassin's Creed up until Rogue or Unity, don't remember, but I lost the feels for it. Never tried Red Dead.
Any must plays I am missing? I always wondered about FallOut, but never looked in to it.

If you've never played the Red Dead Redemption games, I'd go with that. If you're only going to play one of those, RDR2 is clearly the better of the two games. They're both great though. If you're going to play both then I'd play them in order.
If you're not into fantasy, Fallout may be too out there for you even though it's more sci-fi than fantasy. If you like sci-fi, Fallout 3, 4, and New Vegas are all good games.
Unity is the worst AC game imo. Game has no flow to it. If you like open world games, you'll probably like Odyssey and Origins. I like Valhalla but some people did not. Haven't played Mirage so can't say on that one.
If you prefer the more linear AC games like the older games, AC Syndicate was a good game imo. Was the entry after Unity.
