Maybe won’t cost us $3m. But he will have to get a bump to at least $2m+.

Bring back the garbage bags in centerfield.

Make the tony's bottle triple the size.

Rip out the bleachers and let us sit on the concrete.

Probably not. It's not like Jay doesn't care about money. His most recent contract extension had made him the highest paid coach in the country at the time.

Deserved. Texas over here backing up the brinks truck for a coach that hasn't won anything of significance.

I’ll believe it when I see it. He has no business being the highest paid coach in college baseball

With the way the transfer portal is, coaches are underpaid. He will prob flirt with A&M & get a raise

He doesn't. But that's what happens when your buddy gets to spend other peoples money.

That is outrageous for a sport that only makes money at a handful of schools. That can't reset the market because very few schools can justify it.

ETA:

Not saying it won't have an impact, but it won't ripple across all programs. A few select ones will pony up though.

I’m not buying it until a link is provided.
2x as much as Vitello at $1.5M
It’s absurd

definitely gonna have a ripple effect across the sec baseball landscape
baseball is still not a huge revenue generating sport at most places, even LSU barely breaks even despite having a profit

This was the case in the early 2000s but not anymore. Plenty of schools are making money off of baseball these days.

I don’t see this as an automatic bump for Jay. It’s a what have you done for me lately business.

Jay won a natty last year and his contract is what he earned last year. This year we either saw red flags or got a “that’s baseball” reality check.

Vitello and Schlossnagle were pulling about the same $. Looks like Vitello is more likely to get that paid bump rather than Jay.

There’s only a few schools that would even consider that amount, so unlikely it alters the market that much.

That’s more sensible than resetting the market for baseball coaches. He’s getting paid what an elite program like Alabama can pay. Its not like they gave him a contract paying him millions more than Kirby Smart
