Fisker Electric Carmaker goes under

Car & Driver article
This is not an anti-EV rant (I can make plenty of those if you want, FJB). But we all kind of knew where this company was going. Mr. Fisker is on his second or third car company and somehow folks just keep giving him money. He was the head stylist at a couple of major car companies so he is probably very well connected in the auto world. But I don't see how that translates to skill at running a manufacturing company or financing operation, which are both required to make volume cars.

Fisker?? I hardly knew her.

Only reason that I have heard of them is due to Gran Turismo.

Again? What is this like the third time?
Germans…or technically, Danish

None of them except Tesla seem to be able to do anything profitably at a reasonable cost. They all need to just shutter and let the best minds all go work at Tesla to further improve that product

A story as old as the vehicle industry itself.

Least surprising thing i've heard lately. I saw a guy with one in New Mexico a while back and asked him if he was worried about being able to get parts for it in the future and he looked at me like i was crazy.

Second time that brand has gone under. It was never properly managed or funded.
It’s first gen cars were gorgeous. The new ones look nice but aren’t super practical. Hard to compete with the legacy automakers and expeisally Tesla in this area without being a super exotic, high performance player.

Just read this on wikipedia:
Department of Energy's $192 million disbursement to Fisker Automotive through the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing Loan Program.[56] Fisker Automotive had failed earlier that week to meet the deadline for repayment on the loan, which was originally approved as a $529 million loan guarantee.
Dude has government cronies giving him blank checks.

Bigger scam: alternative energy or Ukraine?

Honestly I didn't know they were even back in the game since the Karma

When our daughter was first born and in the NICU, I saw one of the Oceans in the parking deck at CHOA. Probably the best looking of all of the EVs I have seen in person.

Saw one in Monroe one day. I had no idea what it was. It was pretty.
Apparently they're junk.

running a manufacturing company
Literally the most important aspect and no one pays attention to it. Elon will tell you straight up that is what the hardest part of that industry is. Anyone can draw cars on their iPad. Manufacturing them at scale and on a trajectory towards profit is where these startups go to die in a bonfire of investor cash.
